Title: Copper State Models future releases
Post by: Iancshippee on April 03, 2021, 04:59:41 AM
Seen on Facebook, Copper State Models has on the slate for this year in 1/32 their previously mentioned Caudron G.III, as well as a Bristol Scout and Sopwith Baby, though the latter will not happen until 2022. There are other things on their list, but these are the ones that caught my attention. Here’s their list of planned releases for 2021/2022, from their Facebook posting:

1/35 Line
35007 Italian Armoured Car 1ZM WW2 service
35008 Garford Putilov Armoured Truck
35009 Erhard Armoured truck
35010 Krupp-Schuman Armoured mobile guns, model 1899 w/57mm
35011 Italian Armoured Car 1Z (twin turret)
35012 Renault 1914 Armoured Car
35013
35014
35015 Kings USMC Armoured Car
35017
35018 Fiat-Terni Tripoli

1/32 Line
32006 Caudron G.III
32007 Bristol Scout
32008 Sopwith Baby

1/72 line
72001 - Italian Armoured Car 1ZM
72002 -

A replay to a question on Facebook says the they are still working on a 1/32 Austo-Hungarian plane, number 32009. So that would make a realeas date beyond 2022, sadly.
Would love to see the Scout, but that Hansa-Brandenburg D.I is very much higher on my wish list.

Bit disappointed to be honest. I'll certainly buy one Bristol Scout and probably a Baby, but not interested in the Caudron or the ground-pounders.
Don't really understand the strategy either. The Nieuports made so much sense - I bought five - popular choice and lots of variants to release to maximise sales. But with these you really are limited for any future variants.
Have to agree with a Hanriot - would have offered many more future markings and sales opportunities.

Interested in the Caudron G.III and Sopwith Baby but only if they release 1/48th scale versions.

The Hanriot and albatros diii would be real cash cows. All those schemes and minor tweaks to do the Austrian one, or a HD2

Just to whet the appetite for the Copper State Caudron later this year, here's an image we found on Facebook with some useful detail for a Caudron G.III

As yet it appears Copper State have not finalised their choice of markings for this kit so they are open to forum members' suggestions.

When those CAD's of the "star strutter" were released I thought the CSM offering looked more impressive than the WNW CAD images.  CSM has nothing to be ashamed of when being compared to WNW.

No, Kent, they haven't!
Edgar Lepinsh of CSM writes that they „hope“ to release their HB D.I „after at least two other [of their] announced 1/32 kits“.

I am truly thrilled about the Caudron, and sincerely hope it appears in 1:48 someday to sit on my shelf with its bigger brother. I’m also quite pleased with both of the other releases. Keep at it, Copper State!

Diversification.
Maybe they just want to appeal to a wider range of customers.  Not every WW1 modeler wants 5 variants of the Nieuport, I’d bet that most only want one or at most 2.   I know I’d rather have every plane on my shelf be as different from the next as possible.

It seems like Eduard is the only ones helping to keep 1/48 scale alive.

Ever since WNW started 1/32 scale kits that appears like the direction WW1 aircraft kits are going.

I'm still hoping that Eduard releases a new updated Brandenberg D-1 like they did with the Eindekker and SSW D-III kits.

I think one of the things that makes 1/32 more attractive to WWI modelers is the relative difference in size between WWI and WWII aircraft.  Generally, WWI scouts were much smaller that WWII fighters.  Thus, the relative size of a WWI aircraft in 1/32 scale is very similar to 1/48 WWII aircraft.

That's a good point.  I just did a quick google search on the wingspan of a 1:48 Spitfire (235mm), and it's only about 1 inch (25mm to be exact) narrower than my 1/32 Sopwith Camel (260mm).

Hi all,
I wonder how much work would be required for CSM to create a Phönix D.IIa from this model.
Apart from the wing struts, wing span and weapon location, there are a lot of similarities.
Phönix based their design on the license built Hansa-Brandenburg.
Just thinking out aloud  ;)

"I wonder how much work would be required for CSM to create a Phönix D.IIa from this model."

Good observation, Mike.
Or we can buy two kits and convert one ourselves into a Phönix - although given Edgar's variations on a Nieuport theme, a similar segue into Phönix construction would make a lot of commercial sense.

That KDW on floats is just so appealing! First time I've ever seen that.... And as for the D.1 - just gotta get that! One of my all time favourites... The Berg fighters would also appeal a lot, but I reckon the kit manufacturers stay away as there are just so many versions and detail differences...

That’s great - they look interesting but not my scale or thing (never say never) But whoever out there is buying them good on you. I’ve been buying a few Nieuports hope it helps. Not having WNW taking peoples $ probably also helps CSM (?)
