It all started back in October’20 when I built the (newer) Revell Dr.1 as a change of pace. (I had just finished a BIG project- a 1/144 scale Escort Carrier (RC) with Avengers and Wildcats on deck.) The Revell kit was a nice build, but it is molded in bright red plastic. I didn’t want to fight painting over the red, so I finished it in Jacobs’ all black scheme, using the decals from the Eduard Profipack kit.
After I finished, a club mate said “Nice to see something besides the all red MvR Dr.1 - there was such a variety of colorful schemes.” That inspired me, and now, a couple of months later, I have a total of eight Triplanes. All but one are Eduard kits, a mix of WE and Profipack kits.
The models are build essentially OOB, with pilots added. (They will all end up in a mobile over my desk- a “Flying Circus”.). After building seven of the Eduard kits, I am pretty sure I have found most of the mistakes you can make when building this kit. (I have more left to finish, so I may yet find a new error to make!)
Markings are a mix of Eduard and scrapbox decals, plus some were painted using masks.
One thing I am pleased with is the Fokker Streaking- it came out a lot better than it did on other builds in the past..
Here are the first Seven. I have since added MvR’s all red plane, as number 8. Number 9 is on the bench now, it will be Pippart’s Jasta 19 black and yellow plane. I have four more in stash after that, but they may wait for my Albatros (2 of 9 done) and my Nieuport (2 of 15) collections to catch up.....!

I used masks cut on my Silhouette Cameo4 to paint some of the markings...

These are excellent and will look stunning in a mobile "flying" together!
Are the mauve/red fuselage and blue fuselage aircraft of specific/real pilots or are those schemes that you designed? I like them just don't recall seeing before so wondered....

Thanks!
The markings are all real pilots:
Yellow: Lothar von Richtofen, Jasta 11
Black: Josef Jacobs, Jasta 7
White: Hans Weiss, Jasta 11
Blue: Wilhelm Schwartz, Jasta 13
Lilac: Rudolf Stark, Jasta 34b
Green: Friedrich Kempf, Jasta 2 Boelcke
Red/white: August Raben, Jasta 18

I may not be a fan of Fokkers but this collection is certainly an eye-catcher. Very fine results! And good luck with the extension :-)

Here, are we allowed to have this much fun modelling??

I am not normally a fan of a collection of the same type of aeroplane.... but I am beginning to change my mind! Wonderful collection of very eye-catching schemes.

They look great! I have built a couple of these myself. I like the Eduard and the newer Revell kit.
-
These are all incredibly beautiful, I can't decide which is my favourite.

Forgot to update this- I did finish #9 (Pippart’s with the Yellow dots) and then went on to build #10, a second Revell kit, done in Bruno Loerzer’s black and white scheme from J.G.III. That was a milestone for me- the first build with no decals- all the markings were masked and painted!
After I finished those ten, I decided to take a break from Dr.1s, so I did a bunch of Albatros fighters. I’ll give them their own thread….
