The two projects on the bench will be coming to end soon and I need something else to help take my mind off things . So I pick this one out of the stash which has one or two goodies to dress it up a bit . I have built their new tool F-8 in 32 scale when it come out and it was a pure joy to build to the point I picked up another one which is sitting in the stash .
This release was a Christmas Gift when it was released in 2019 . ( Same parts ) .
So here are the items which I will try and add to this build .
RB Productions Luftwaffe Seatbelts
Master Barrels Armament set
Aires Gun Bay for the wings
Quickboost Tail wheel Assembly
Quickboost Fuel Point with Covers
Eduard mask set
Eduards PE wheel Bay
Eduards Landing flaps
Eduards Brass landing gear and resin wheels
Eduards resin prop and spinner
Eduards resin gun deck ( top of fuselage )
Eduards resin cockpit set
Eduards resin engine
I think this should be enough for now or to get me started . I will be using the kit decals for this one , I like the schemes thet have and the other marking option for this will be used on the other one still in the stash . As soon as room is made on the bench , work will begin .

Steady on Alexis!
Your modelling knife will melt at this rate :o
Haven’t built it but wanted to...

Oh, that's a lot of goodies! Great model and great modeller caters for a great build to follow! 👍😁

Thanks Guy and Fredrik :) I hope that I will not disappoint you .
Guy , get the kit . You know you want too ;)
Alexis
-
Following with eager anticipation - love the look of that aircraft.
Cheers,
Gary
-
Alexis,
Great subject and with that inventory of A/M Goodies and your skills it's going to be a really spectacular Build! I've always liked the "lines" of this aircraft, looking forward to following along!
Cheers,
Lance

Very nice choice Alexis, looking forward to this. The current generation of 1/32 Revell kits are great value for money, I'm working on their Spit IIa at the moment, backdated to a MkI. They're great as they are but are so cheap that I can lash out on AM goodies with a clear conscience.I would prefer a sturdier box, but that's a minor issue.
Cheers,
Dave.

Fascinating project, Alexis. i will follow :)
Andreas

Have you added up what that little lot will cost you Alexis? :o
It’s funny though, I’m the same, I’ve just bought a Tamiya 1/72 Thunderbolt as I’d seen a set of panel masks from a Polish manufacturer and thought I’d love to try that, bought the kit, then the postage for the masks was silly, then a PE set etc before you know it, a £15 kit is suddenly £50 ??? ...and it’s 1/72...
Guy
-
Thanks for the kind comments and encouragement guys ! :)
Dave , haven't built their Spitfire yet . I hope the continue with new release in the future they are really good valve !
Guy , have no idea how much it all cost . The enjoyment which it will bring one can't put a price on it ;)
Alexis
-
I know that you will make a first class model from this Alexis, but how much of it will be the Revell kit when it is completed? The FW 190 has lines which I find aesthetically appealing so I will follow along too.
Stephen.

I am looking forward to this one Alexis. I once owned one of these but decided I didn't have room for 1/32nd WW2 kits.

Very sexy machine in a brutish way!! Have you checked out the Archer complete rivet set....maybe you shouldnt... :o
Steve
-
Nice one, Alexis.. The Nightfighter fell from the skies into my stash recently... The Prop really needs replacement, but the rest OK... OK, also seat-belts and some cockpit stuff.... Regards, Marc.
-
I have Steve , but at this time I will pass on those . I have riveting tools already in the tool box , but I'm not doing full rivets ...I like my hair and don't want to be driven mad if a row didn't turn out like I was planning on .
Alexis

Made a start on cleaning up the resin parts for the cockpit and started with assembly . Still have to build the rudder pedals , each one is 3 PE parts . I do have to added PE parts to the instrument panels but this will get done after painting and decaling . I place them now and they will going flying and I really don't feel like finding it in my hair later ::)
Alexis
-
Alexis,
Are you in a competition with Rick to see who can build the most models to the highest standard in the shortest time? I am like Lance in that I am left breathless trying to keep up with all of your builds!
Stephen.
-
Thanks Stephen , always a pleasure having follow along and giving support :)
This won't be done any time soon . There is lots involved in getting everything to fit and planning out in the order for adding all this aftermarket . In for a penny , in for a pound !
In all honesty guys , I only have two builds going right now . Shelf queens can wait until the desire comes back to finish them .
But I do appreciate the support and encouragement it has been a tremendous help too me :)
Alexis

I’m watching too :)
Guy

While stuff is drying on the Fokker work continues with getting the rudder pedals built and installed . This are three PE parts each and the mounting points are very small for them ! Cockpit parts are ready for paint now but before I whip out the paint first things first .
Tail wheel assembly is also set for paint , and I'm still thinning down the area where this mounts . Just a little more thinning to go and she will fit nice and snug ! Next are to build upis the top gun deck and engine retaining wall which is also part of the wheel well . This part will get the PE items . The resin gun deck will get added later .
There is still the gun bays in the wings and with these being Aires I know fit issues are going to be waiting for me . I will tackle these once I know how more room I have to work with .

Wow, there‘s an impressive amount of details in the cockpit and the wheel bays. I cross my fingers for a good fit in spite of being Aires...
Best regards,
Andreas
-
Nice details there, Alexis! A lot of resin for sure, I always double-check Aires for fit! Regards, Marc.
-
Hi Andreas and Marc ,
Yes there is a little bit of resin for this one I admit and I do like the Eduard Resin sets , they are the best when it comes to detail and it is a drop fit for the most part .
I have been using Aires resin for well over 30 years and I don't ever recall an item fitting right . But yet they have really good detail as well . Have always seem to make them fit in the end ....knocks on wood ;)
Alexis
-
Some super detailing there Alexis. I for one would have thrown a good portion of that PE in the bin I am afraid as I have little patience with it.
Stephen.
-
Thanks Stephen , there is some which will not be used ...just to small !
Alexis
-
One of the detail which needed to be done now to make sure that they will not interfere with the other detail sets . Three fuel re-filling ports are opened up . The two on the left side I have some touch ups with the shape . Dermal tool got away on me and took some damage .
Fire wall and landing gear wells are underway with the main PE parts being place for test fitting . So far that looks very promising so I can add the rest of the PE and other detail bits and set it aside for paint later . Next will the cutting and fitting the wing cannons into the wings

Some lovely detailing going on - that main spar looks really good.... Regards, Marc.

Thanks Marc :) Still a lot of detail needs to be added though , but getting there
Alexis

Looking great Alexis! The added details will really make this one stand out!

I hope so Rick ...I need one to go with my Mustang I did a while back , but I'm not spending 2 and 1/2 months detailing it the wheel bay on this one .

How much work on this already, a very promising build.

It was a PE kinda of day for this and finished off the parts for the wheel bay . Many tiny parts and only one lost to the great blue yonder . Very pleased with myself over that ;D This took about 4 an 1/2 hours . Next up is the ammo bins on the fire wall and this part is ready for the fuselage . Before I start adding paint the wing gun bays will be next . I still have to cut out the sections on the fuselage and there will be lots of thinning and hopefully this part will not affect the landing flaps locations . I'm enjoying the build so far on having to plan it all it and getting things to fit :)

Sure makes a difference Alexis, that's going to look marvellous under a coat of paint. Inspired by your build, I've just picked up the F8 boxing at a good price which I'll be doing it as the captured one flown by RCAF 401 Squadron.
Cheers,
Dave.

Lovely detailing Alexis,
Looks a decent kit too :)
Guy

That is some serious PE work Alexis! I Do Not Have that kind of Patience ::) Looking fantastic!
RAGIII
-
Thanks guys ! :)
Good for you Dave :) When the kit was first released I paid 30 bucks at the hobby shop . Enjoyed the build so much I went and pick up another one . I would like to see Revell do an A-3 or A-4 .
Guy , it is an excellent kit and I recommend you give one a go .
Rick , PE is the devils detail and there is still a fair bit more of it !
Alexis
-
Great work, Alexis. I have the F-8 version and the same PE set.
Following along.
-
Hi Ken ,
I can say that so far the PE parts fit with out having to thin the kit parts . One thing to watch out for is the outer sections of the bay , If these parts aren't rolled right the others will not fit . I messed a bit on the leading edge of the wing . It is a weird shape and I had troubles with the shape on getting it correct . Some trimming on the formers were need and is hidden which work out for in the end .
Alexis
-
Have missed your recent progress on this one Alexis so I have just read through and caught up. How anyone can spand time adding all of that PE is beyond my understanding - even though it is adding much to the model. I just would not have the patience!
Stephen.
-
Hey Stephen ,
I don't have the Patience for most of it , I always lose one or two of the tiny parts and most of those now I won't use .
I don't understand why I use so much of it , it can be frustrating at times but I still have my sanity and my hair !
There is only more kit's like this in 32 scale which I have more then the kitchen sink tossed in . F4U-1A , P-51D and a P-51B . 48 Scale I have about 8 more projects that same , tons of PE and resin for them . All other kits will be built out of the box with the exception for some of my WW 1 kits which will get detail .
Alexis
-
I think we all use It (PE) the same insane reasons with a touch self torture/pleasue.
Ed
-
Other than tons of sanding not much progress has been made , but the gun pods are sanded down as far as I can take them . Any thinner will cause me sand through the underside of them . Inside of the wings I still have a fair bit of thinning , but this stage is getting there . The wing panels covers are larger on the kit . The resin replacements are smaller so I will need to square off the cut out in the top wing . The covers do match the cutouts on the fuselage sides so no work needed there . I'm used to this with Aries resin , and I'm lucky I still have my hair ! , but they do have beautiful replacement sets .
Alexis
-
You are really putting in a lot of work on this one Alexis. I am sure the results will be worth the effort!
RAGIII
-
Thanks Rick ,
I finally got the right side gun bay where it fits but I still have a bit of work on the wing cut out but that is just gluing another piece of plastic on the rear of the opening . I can more over to the left side but the cutting out the panel I will do this different so I don't have to box it in .
Alexis
-
Some tricky cutting and fitting Alexis, but it is coming together well.
Stephen.

Agreed! This should look great when done, Alexis.

Hi Stephen and Dave , thank you so much for following still !
More time was spent on the left side and by george I think she's git it !!! This was a heck of a lot of sanding on getting these to fit . The plastic is so thin in some areas just a sneeze is enough to cause damage . Little more work on the top part of the wings . I over sanded on the right side cut cut out and need to add another stripe of card stock . Smoothing and blending this in better will get done when rest of the seems get filled and I will have to scribe new panel lines . Few more PE parts I need to add on to the fire wall then it is off to painting the interior parts and a bit of assembly . Once this stage is reached it's landing flaps and upper guns !
Alexis
-
:)
-
That is a lot of work but will be worth it in the end! Nice progress Alexis!

This one reads as though it is a bit more than a walk in the park.... However with all the sanding and scraping it is shaping into a really interesting looking model. Keep at it Alexis - you are winning!
Stephen.
-
Thanks Rick and Stephen . Bit more tweaking was done for a better fit and just need to fill the half circle on the left side of the top wing . Rest of the resin parts are added to the gun pods and the front of the fire wall is done . Today I will start getting the base colours are and maybe a jump on the detail painting . Will have some progress photo's later today .
Hi Stephen , yeah it is more than a walk in park ...it's a hike up the mountain !
Alexis
-
Okay , didn't work on the Pfalz but I did start spraying the base colours on all the interior parts . Now comes the fun part for me . Detail painting and weathering !

Lovely progress, Alexis -

Not my topic, but you are doing a great battle with all the parts and details here <thumbs_up>
It looks like you have a lot of fun with it, which is the most important part!
Cheers,

Thanks Stephen , Dave and Frank :) Haven't started any of the detail paint but rain is coming here again so this will be perfect to veg in front of the bench with the smell of paint !
I'm in no hurry on getting this one done , this is the type of build which will burn me out fast . So a little here and a little there .
Alexis

Hello Alexis,
I too have this kit in my stash and am keen to see how you paint the mottle camo. I'm relatively new to airbrushing so on my recently finished Revell 1/32 BF109 G-6 I dabbed on the mottle with tightly rolled sponge 'sticks', not having the confidence to use my airbrush! Quite happy with the result and when I get my head around posting pics, I will do so.
Rgds from 'Down Under'

Hi Brian ,
The mottled camo really isn't hard to airbrush at all . It looks daunting and I had the same reaction at first . To build up on confidence I would practice on junk models or sheets of paper . I thin my paint a little more and set the needle lock on my airbrush so i don't pull back on the trigger to far and starting right up against the fuselage I pull the trigger and pull away and keep building it it until I'm happy . It will be a while before I get to the camo stage , but I will share more in detail how I do this . I also look forward on seeing your 109 , I built the new tool of that kit as well . It's not a bad kit .
Alexis

First round of detail is done :)
Alexis

:)

More detail painting is done and weathering has started ...or at least the first round . Seatbelts are next and the decals for the instruments ...there's a few of them .
Alexis
-
Looking very realistic!
-
Good work going on in your cockpit, Alexis - excellent painting on the instrument panel
Regards
Dave
-
Looking nice! I'm not much of a WWII Luftwaffe fan, but I've always liked the lines of the FW190. If I ever do one, it'll probably be "under new management". Somehow British roundels look good on it as well! ;D
-
Thanks for the comments guys ! I just have the seatbelt left and I can get the fuselage halves closed up :)
Alexis
-
Made one step forward on this one as well .
Lower instrument panel is installed , minus the two PE parts which I still need to paint . Annnnd made a start on the seatbelts while losing one of those PE parts to the great blue yonder ::)
Alexis
-
:)
-
Those belts can be tedious, but yours is looking good. :)
-
They sure can be tedious and hard on the eyes , might be able to have the belts done this weekend ...rain is coming !
Alexis
-
Wow - those seat belts look fantastic. I've never seen them before. Great progress Alexis :)
Cheers,
Gary
-
Wow! That is looking simply stunning, Alexis! Great work and very, very detailed.... I like it lots! Regards, Marc.

Thanks Gary and Marc :)
