Title: WingnutWings FE2b - another problem
Post by: 6992 on February 20, 2021, 05:17:39 AM: Construction of the WingnutWings FE2b continues - rather slowly due to arthritic fingers (and it not being the simplest of things to deal with !).
The WnW instruction booklet continues to occasionally irritate due to lack of clarity / failure to name components / "pretty" but misleading 3D drawings. This one has really got me scratching my head >
Page 16, wing rigging guide. The upper wing has an aileron control cable pully near to each wing end - BUT what happens to the cable above the wing between those two pulleys. The illustration shows the cable following the wing angle down to the centre section (which makes sense) - but what holds the cable down to follow that route rather than a straight line between the two pulleys ?

Also, I still haven't found a scaled drawing for the FE2B with "V" undercarriage. (The WnW instructions would have benefited from some good two-dimensional drawings).

Thanks for the reply; - yes those are the two areas which I'm looking at, but I cannot see any part numbers for anything which could be described as "guide loops at either the straps". I suppose I should just make something up !

Making a couple (four) of copper wire loops should be fairly straight forward.

I've made four very small diameter loops out of thin brass wire and glued them into drilled holes almost flush with the top of the upper wing. The installed aileron control wire "looks right" in terms of its positioning above the wing, but I suspect that WnW possibly intended you to just glue the rigging to the bracketing mouldings on top of the wing ??? I'll get there in the end :)

Post by: Dave J on March 02, 2021, 10:30:40 AM: These aren't supplied in the kit. I just had a look on the WNW website at my two builds to remind me what I did and I didn't do anything. Just ran the wire across the points.
