Title: When was introduced the lozenge camouflage by German Naval Aviation?
Post by: WS_972 on February 08, 2021, 06:56:18 AM
Sorry for the noob question....but seem that all sources about lozenge camouflage came from the Luftstreitkrafte....so I need to know when the same was also introduced by the Navy....

On the Air Service the first use start with aircrafts built from April '17....

From my knowledge initially the lozenge was painted over and only after a while the printed fabric start to be used....even if I think that on the floats the lozenges were always painted....

I see a couple of pictures of the same Albatros W that was initially in wood and doped linen and after in wood and lozenge....but I can't date the change with a good precision....

Every help 'll be really appreciated!

I'm pretty sure this was addressed on the Aerodrome. I think the directive was issued in the spring of 1917. Try a search on the site.
