Wow!
That is great.
Probably why someone just put the WNW decals on ebay.

i am not amongst those charmed by this scheme, but it's popular and should sell well. there's a guy on ebay selling 3d printed OAW cowl panels. i bought a set just as a plan B (i've already got the OAW kit), because i think it's great people are doing that.

Me neither, but I'm sure if this does well Aviattic will expand the range ;)
Does that 3D printed cowl panel set include the "overlapping" cowling panel style of this (and other J65 Aircraft) as well, or is it something of a copy of the WnW parts which don't have this style?

Hi Jeroen,
Are you referring to the 3D panels posted on the 'Wingnut Wings Fans' FB page?
Scroll down his page to find the OAW panels.

pretty sure it's the same guy on ebay. to my eye tiny louvers look like the hard part, so i bought a set even though the one OAW kit i have is enough for me. i like to see ppl doing this stuff.

Here's the WNW panels from my kit.
The printed version look similar, but lack fine detail,

my OAW kit is in upstate NY and i am in Thailand so i can't compare side by side. from photos i've seen the louvers look like they're open on the WNW molding.

but not on the 3d printed part. haven't given any thought as to whether i'll try to open them up on the 3d part. i may mess around with it if i ever have free time again. i probably only need one set with the multiple louvers; i have plans for 3 OAW ships but they each have different cowlings.

Hi all,
I think the 3D printed panels could be enhanced with a bit of fine scribing.
Also the Fokker style panel nuts could be replace with those from 'Taurus Models' (3224).

http://www.taurusmodels.pl/

The louvres either could be drilled out or removed completely and replaced with louvres stamped out using a die set from 'Flugzeuwerke'.

https://www.shapeways.com/shops/flugzeugwerke

Actually, with all of the above you could more or less scratch a set of panels.
Either way, a lot of work and expense to achieve anything that's up to the standard of the WNW panels,

Mike
