Great links and I have built a ww1 ship in the past from card. But I do have a question. Why the weird scales?? 1/33 and 1/50th.


Just wondering, since it would be easier for scratch builders to use the paper models as templates in plastic card if the scales were more standardized. Or is it deliberate. As in 1/33 is to 1/32 and 1/50 is nearly but somewhat under scale for 1/48th.

Hello Ray...

I think it's because this may be related to metric scales as papercard models are basically a European invention!  Not exactly sure but I think that's close.  And yes...they are super close to 48th and 32nd too.
