Title: Show us your - Pfalz E.1
Post by: macsporran on August 08, 2020, 07:57:14 PM
Pfalz E1 - Bavarian Air Service, Winter 1915
Another oldie - the 1/48 JGMT resin kit. Easiest resin kit I've ever built.

Thanks Terri - I know you agree you can never have too many Pfalzen.

This is lovely. I can't decide if this or the a.1 are my favorite.

I've never heard of the resin kit. Are they still available?

Would converting an eduard Fokker E.1 require more than is reasonable?

That's a beauty Sandy, a really attractive model.I have the AMG offering in the stash, but I'd love one in 1/32.
Cheers,
Dave.

Thanks guys. I think JGMT are probably long gone. French company specializing in 1/48 resin kits. It is an attractive aeroplane but quite different dimensions from the Fokkers - quite a major conversion!
I'd love one in 1/32 and did have my hopes Sir PJ may have thought so too, but that ain't going to happen now😥

Softscience. The 1/48th scale Gavia injection molded Pfalz E.I is now produced by Special Hobby. Same styrene parts but different decals. You can find the Gavia kit on Ebay.

Here's my AZ Models E.I in 1:72
The kit is not very impressive! The wings are the wrong shape at the tip and far too thick, so those and the tail surfaces were scratchbuilt from plastic card. The fuselage is too narrow so it was widened with plastic card inserts and a new front upper panel added, again from plastic sheet. Undercarriage, struts, and interior all scratchbuilt. Since the M-S aircraft were the same I'm assuming the mods I have had to do will apply to all the AZ Models Pfalz and M-S series kits.

Splendid!
If you had written that this was the 48 Gavia kit, I would have believed it too.

Cheers,
Frank
