Figuring that it is excellent time to finish off a few shelf queens and this one just happened to be on the list . This was started many moons ago as out of the box . The markings were sent to me by a follow member on a different site . While waiting for the decal to arrive work continued on the kit . When the decals arrived in the mail it rained ! He didn't do anything to protect them so they have water damage . Kit ended up on the shelf . So time to get her done . Not suce on the scheme , but it will not be a camo one .

Terri,
This will be another one I'll enjoy following.

Hi Terri!
This was my first WWI build after years without styrene. I learned a lot from it. I'll be looking forward to seeing how yours goes.
Gaz
-
Looking forward to seeing you finish this one Terri!
RAGIII

Thanks for the interest guys , work will commence here very shortly
Terri

While waiting for paint to dry on the Lloyd , perfect time to finishing up the seems . Will prime again and see what still needs attention , then can polish it up once again .

Seams look good... in other words I can't see them.
One thing I found interesting/disturbing about this kit was that there is no direct link between propeller and engine.
-
Thanks Gary , yeah it's the kit engine which is under scale . I was planning on using a spare Roden engine but at the time I really didn't want to fuzz with it . Save that for the next one .

Looking Great T!

Thanks Rick :)

Hey Terri you have sprung this one on me while I was away and I nearly missed it! This is clearly going to be another of your gems - and judging by how much you have already completed, we will not have too long to wait to be able to admire it.
Stephen.

Lovely Walfisch!

I will watch for sure!

Just found this one Terri, I really like the shape of the Roland C II so will follow this very keenly.

Got my attention.

Thanks for following along guys :)
Well I must say that I moved forward on this one a fare bit today . The seams I primed once more with final clean up . Windows masked up and a primer is on the main parts . While this was drying I started clean up on the other parts setting them up for paint . The prop has it's base coat on for this is used Tamiya Deck Tan . The land struts are very filmsy at the axle wing joins so to add stiffiness , bungie cords got added . They are also pinned as well . Now it's off the mask up the ribs for the next stage . I also drilled out the exhaust . The kit guns I will not be using . Since I still need to build the one for the Lloyd I will be using Toms Model Works .

Very nice, Terri! What did you use for the bungees?
Gaz

All is looking Great Terri. The bungees add a terrific touch to the gear!
RAGIII

Terri,
Keep the production line going. This is shaping up nicely.
Kevin

I too think that the bungees are a realistic touch. You seem to be on a roll at the moment with all of these models on the go!
Stephen.
-
Hi guys ! And thank -you :)
Gary , I use orange sewing thread for this . Been using it for years now when building in 48 scale .
With the masking tape out time was spent masking off the ribs and flight controls for a bit of per-shading . My first coat was a dark grey using a mix of Tamiya paints followed with an over coat of flat black . Can start spraying the blue/grey now :)

The next big progress, right of the wooden bird. Let's see, how it will look like. I have not yet decided for a painting scheme of my Roland.
You're wearing me out, you can hardly follow at that speed!
Cheers,
Frank
-
Hi Frank , yeah this one is going rather fast , but with most of it done years ago it was just a matter of getting her painted which is done as well as the decalling . There are a few errors with the scheme . The checkers on the underside of the right bottom wing should be on the left side . An Eduard oops :-X . I ran out of decals with a white square field ...short by one so I just used a cross with a white out line . I did lose on of the motifs for the rudder . I had the decal in place went to pick up the q-tip and it was gone ! Have no idea where the hell it went to .
For the blue/grey it is a mix of Tamiya light blue with sky grey . The tires are Tamiya light grey .

paint job is looking really nice and the pre shading has worked really well.

Wow!

Checkmate! Brilliant results!

Amazing scheme Terri! Lovely results!
RAGIII

Thanks guys ! :)
Rick , when I first saw this scheme I was just getting into WW 1 modelling through the WWW ( first computer as well ) and spent more time online then in front of the bench , but I found a lot of interesting schemes . I should have the weathering button up within the next few days . Thanks for following guys 8)
Terri
-
yeah this one is going rather fast
Rather fast ? with paint and decal job already done this is light speed!
I like the Roland!
Cheers,
Frank
-
So glad to see you back on this one, T! Love all that you've done so far. I know this will be another one of you master works.
Cheers,
Bud
-
Wish it was light speed , would have it already off the bench and in the display cabinet .
Thanks Bud :)
I did some more detail painting and started the weathering . Few more things need detail painting and then the rigging can start ;) Pi'c coming soon .
Terri
-
Looking good Terri, I really like the scheme. It's really striking! :)
-
Thanks Richie ,
Weathering has started with wash of Flory dark dirt and that's as far as I made it with the weather :o But the fuselage and undercarriage are set for a dull clear coat for the next step in the weathering with chalk pastels .

Shaping up very nicely, Ma'am.
What is Flory dark dirt? It seems to give a good understated effect.
-
Hi Oldman , glad to have you checking in :)
Flory washes are clay based . It is a mixed of very fine clay power with water and soap bas to it . Apply to the model like any other wash . Let it dry ( dries fast ) and wipe away with a damp cloth with water . Works best over a gloss surface , not so good on flat coats but interesting effect can be had though .
I have their full range of washes and pigmets and I love their sanding sticks !

Thank you, Ma'am!
I will certainly look into that when I am next buying supplies. I do a lot of panel-line on WWII era stuff with a pencil, which will stay black if gone over with matte coat (otherwise it can glint silver at certain angles, or with dilute paint applied and wiped immediate. I have taken a shot at an oil wash, and it seemed a lot of work for the result. What seems attractive about this is the claim it can go over a matte surface.
-
Beuatiful Painting Terri! I love the subtle wash around the windows. Looks great with the Markings!
RAGIII
-
You are welcome Oldman , hope they work well for you if you choose to pick some up .
Thanks Rick ,
I finished off the guns last night so I can start painting and weathering them up and finishing a few more bits .
Terri
-
Nice looking paint, Terri. That flory wash really helps with the mono scheme.
-
Hi Gary , yes it sure does help with mono scheme giving it a bit more life . The final weathering is yet to come so I'm hoping that I don't mess it up and over do it .
The MG's are put together as well , but I went with a different plan . Going through the spare gun bin I found a resin set . Have no idea who's they are but the breaches came in get use . The PE barrels are also from the bin while the sights are spare PE . Exhaust just needs a flat coat now . I also added seatbelts .

Coming on greatly, T!
-
You seem to have a whole arsenal of guns at the moment!
-
Thanks Gary and Ken 8)
Ken , I like to be well armed ;)
So with yet another day of rain time was spent relaxing in front of the bench while listening to a band called Yello :) Love these guys !
Out comes the airbrush and a coat of Vallejo clear flat . This was misted on in very light coats taking my time . I just needed enough for the chalks to bite into . While that was drying I ended up re-paint the prop . It is now set a side drying with it's clear coat awaiting the prop logo's .
With the dull coat dry out came the chalks and more weathering was added to the hinges , behind the rads . I used Tamiya pastels for the mud staining on the under side of the lower wings . Once all that was done it was seal with Vallejo satin finish and the rigging has started as well .

I'm in 100% agreement with my Amigo, T! Speed without sacrificing quality. Magnificent!

Terri, in the time it would have taken me to cut off the control surfaces, you built the whole model! :o
Great weathering! And the scheme looks very interesting with the replaced wing.
With the first rigging lines already visible this bird will be finished in another rainy day I guess ...
Cheers,
Frank
-
Hi guys , and thank-you :)
Frank , some builds can go pretty quick for me if building out of the box , kit's that I detail can take me months sometimes even up to a year and a half . I like out of the box every now and then , very relaxing :) I will have this finished up pretty quick ;)
Terri
-
Rigging is well under way and the inter struts are fixed in place . Rudder is also set with control lines . Since these pic's the top wings are mounted and set aside while the glue dries . Not much rigging left to do , rest won't take me long now ;)
