I am drawing the 3d of the S.I.A.Farman MF1914 with Fiat A.10 engine, to obtain the two-dimensional drawings of the paper model.
I want to make the 1/33 scale model.

This will be a very interesting, not to write challenging model. Looking forward to seeing this one take shape.

I am looking forward to your Mastery!

Interesting ....

Wow! Another italian subject!
Your 3D drawings are really accurate.
I saw you choose the one with "solid" fins, instead of the one in picture.
If it's useful, here my build of ten years ago with some original photos:

I know your model, I followed it on "Modellismo Più". I'd like to ask you some information.
Does the tail frame have rectangular section oblique beams? Did you insert one or two tanks between the second seat and the engine? Did you know that in the war period the MF1914 had only the factory coloring?
Thanks for your help
-
Hi Matt!
There are two Galleries in "Modellismo Più" maybe useful for answer your questions:
https://www.modellismopiu.net/m+gallerie/main.php?g2_itemId=192184&g2_page=2
http://www.modellismopiu.net/m+gallerie/main.php?g2_itemId=212045
Looking at your drawings, it seems that nose is too "rounded" as british Farmans, The Fiat version was more straight in shape.
Roberto
-
Hi Matt!
Two, I hope, useful photo.
In both you may see the single petrol tank behind seats and oil tank before engine.
Another thing: the Fiat A.10 was "inspired" by the Mercedes 160hp that we received with 6 Albatros W.1 that our Navy purchased before the war.
Cheers,
Roberto

Thanks Roby
As I expected.
The petrol tank has a rounded rectangular section, while the oil tank has a circular section.
It remains a mystery how the latter is hooked, while the former will be housed on a pedestal.
Regarding the "nose" issue, I proceeded to redesign it according to your indications.
I therefore modified the base by lengthening the tip

I'm in line for this one too. So cool I could cry.
Can't wait to see it!
Dan

Amazing project! Are there any pics of comparable quality for French build MF. 11’s interiors out there too?
Andreas
-
Hi Matt,
one idea about oil tank fixing is that the tank was placed between radiators.
They are not "suspended" or sustained by piping, you may see a bracing little strut in first photo.
Maybe oil tank is attached to the bar that is behind radiators, a sort of a more rigid structure
radiator/oil tank/radiator.
This time is really "my two cents".
Great work on nose profile.

Well, the engine parts are ready to be cut out:

It just keeps getting better and better, Matt! I am in line behind Dan for one of these, if you ever decide to market the digital file. A truly beautiful work of art and design. Well done.
Best regards,

So much cooler than my engine. I think I may need to do some mods. Don't want to be showed up too much! ;D
Looks great, Marco.

today I don't work for two reasons:
because it's Saturday and because it's workers' day.
But,
it is tomorrow that the difficult part begins: valves and pipes.
Grazie per i complimenti, ma la parte difficile comincia domani: valvole e tubi motore.
matt77

I'm tempted to do it again ..
I'll leave it aside by making first the cockpit
matt77
-
I don't know, Marco...I'd call that a win. Looks nice from my perspective. Of course, if you could improve upon it, that would be amazing and fun to see.
Dan
-
That is a truly incredible piece of engineering in paper and card. I would have difficulty making that in plastic, wood and metal but you are producing a mini-masterpiece in paper which IMHO is much more difficult. I am truly gobsmacked!
Stephen.
-
I think the engine looks superb. That being said from what I am seeing in these paper models you guys always seem to make great even better 8)
RAGIII
-
The right side is almost complete, the exhausts are still missing.

From tomorrow I attack the left side
Thanks,
matt77

I declare that the engine is finished.

This is the cockpit.
I believe that the seats will be designed with an aluminum or metal finish.

These are the photos of the aircraft that I want to reproduce (not so destroyed, obviously)

That engine looks great! Very realistic. Well done!

Amazing engine! Your artwork really makes it look like the real deal!

I am going to build the wooden frame that becomes the balustrade of the engine.
Each side is composed of four overlapping sections of cardboard for the frame,

and two sections for the canvas that covers the frame externally.

Wow! That is some very fine and crisp work in paper. Looks fantastic Marco! This one is going to be another gem.
Best,
Bob

Thanks Bob and RAGIII
I am quite satisfied with the result.
I wait for the glue to dry to remove the excess.

Slick. I really like the subtle effects on the linen. Masterful.
Dan
-
Remarkable modeling by a remarkable artist. This would be a great kit to sell for download. ::) Just sayin' . . . ;D
Cheers,
Bob
-
...and many compliments for right style of lettering on nacelle!
Great build!
Roberto
-
The idea of the canopy is correct but the paper used is too thick, there are construction lines in the print to be eliminated.
In this realization there are so many inaccuracies that I decided to use it as a test subject.
I start a parallel model.
Soon
matt77
-
The profile of the canopy must have a more noticeable upward curve and the hole for the cables must be more rearward
matt77
-
The frame and Tub look excellent to Me! I do Love your artwork!
RAGIII

I positioned the pedals of the rudders control belonging to the pilot.
The position should have been lateral to the gunner's seat.
I had to ride the error but I modified the related drawings.

Your artwork and artistry in assembling this model are just stunning! It all looks so real. A miniature jewel. The cockpit is developing so nicely, and will be very convincing. Well done! ;D
Best regards,
Bob

Continuing to be a superb and stunning piece of work!
RAGIII

Another one shaping up wonderful !

That's gotta be real plywood. Just amazing!
Dan

General tests for the elements of the nacelle.

Superlatives elude me--that looks absolutely real! Only the desk and paint box behind give away the scale. That is breathtaking modeling Matt77. Truly outstanding.
Best regards,
Bob
-
Big thanks Bob, Terri, RAGIII and Dan
Small changes and updates:
I moved the rudder controls to the correct position, masking the wrong position with the addition of a sheet of metal, as it appears in the photos.
I placed the engine on the supports but I had to remove the oil tank. To reposition it I will have to find an alternative solution, as I can no longer dislocate the engine.
I think tomorrow I will be able to finish the whole nacelle.
matt77
-
All right, I was going to write something complimentary and then found it necessary to go back to Page 1 and check for sure that this is a paper card model.
I think that eclipses any other compliments I might have made.

Matt 77,
Amazing detail, and as already stated, so real looking. You are taking this paper medium to new heights, superb modelling!
Cheers,
Lance

Breath-taking. I'm out of superlatives!

I agree Completely!

To the naked eye, it appears impossible that this is paper. Surely it looks like linen, wood, steel, aluminum, leather a various other metal. Matt77, how did you find these items in such small scale??? ;) Seriously, this is just a joy and pleasure to behold as this magnificent model unfolds (no pun) before our eye. Simply the best!
Best,
Bob
-
Hi Matt,
I agree with ALL modellers that wrote before myself about your gem.
Above all, it seems real materials instead of paper!
Really well done at 360 degrees!
Roberto
-
Thanks to everyone for the generous compliments.
I hope not to disappoint you by continuing the construction of this model.
Finally, on the fifth attempt, I managed to get the seat I wanted.
For the MG Fiat Mod. 1914 tipo Aviazione they are only on the first attempt, if I can't get a good result I will have to opt for a Fiat-Revelli with normal bullet magazines
(https://www.mediafire.com/convkey/6049/ceautsensrhg3oxzg.jpg)
See you soon,
matt77
-
matt77,
Another great post. I find this type of modeling fantastic.
Happy modeling,
Kevin
-
That pile of chairs reminds me of my garage. ::) Seriously, the upright chair with seat belt looks like someone could walk up and sit down in it! This is amazing art. The MG looks great too. Very well done.
Best,
Bob
-
SMP has beaten me to the comment that this looks like anything but paper. The engine alone is a mini-masterpiece and I could be easily convinced that it was real metal or at the least well painted plastic. The fit of parts is exceptional and there is no trace of a joint anywhere. Simply folding and shaping this paper leaves me amazed - I cannot find words to properly express my admiration for what you are doing.
Stephen.
-
Marco's skills kill me...
I tend to use "other" things to make the tiny or hard-to-make-out-of-paper stuff but not Marco!
Pretty darn amazing. We are all taking notes.
Dan :o :o ;) ;)
-
Thank you all,
you are too generous.
The nacelle is almost complete:

But, now, I have to face the cut of the instruments, but the clouds of the storm are darkening the sun,
(https://www.mediafire.com/convkey/75b2/1rj73f8gtxxab8szg.jpg)
I believe I will have to postpone the operation until tomorrow evening,
hoping for a clear sky.
matt77
-
Can't wait...look great, Marco.
Dan
-
I hope you consider this as the COMPLIMENT that is intended. The tub and details look as good as Any WNW kit I have seen Modeled!
RAGIII
-
The left radiator is completed, I'm happy.
When I finish gluing the one on the right, I will have to connect the cooling pipes to the engine.
Now that the time has come to think about the wings, I realize the remarkable size of the model.
And the lower wings are much smaller than the upper ones.
matt77
-
Really like the level of detail :)
Terri
-
Marco, this is just a beautiful work of art in every sense. Thank you for sharing it. That radiator looks exceptionally realistic, and the additional parts sheet is such a treat. Love those wings! The nacelle looks perfectly at home there. ;D
Let me know when this kit goes on sale! ;)
Best regards,
Bob
-
Echoing Bob. I want one!
I really like the texture on the wings. Sitting the cockpit/engine tub on the wing really puts it in perspective and makes it even more impressive.
Keep going, Marco!
Dan
-
The Radiator is really impressive and the wing patterns look awesome!
RAGIII
-
Great effort! Wow!

Hard to believe it is paper !!!
ED

After a few days of despondency, I managed to remove the engine, lower the supports, insert the oil tank and reinsert the engine. The few damages caused will be easily repaired.

Now I can deal with the remaining work on the biplane.
matt77

Simply Brilliant!
RAGIII

Dang...that's lovely.
Good to see you have a place holder on Ecardmodels too!
Dan

Except for the table top, that looks 1:1. I am out of superlatives. This is just a pleasure to behold. Thanks!
Best regards,
Bob

Excellent progress , this is really coming together beautifully :)
Terri

Thank you all.

Some inaccuracies in the assembly of the tail pylons, but I think the result is acceptable.

This model is oustanding in all respects Marco. That last photo looks like a real 1:1 aircraft in flight, with a beautiful background! This one is a real pleasure to watch develop. :D

Impressive work. I have a Farman from Efrem Papermodel and you build is good guide.

Any update on this one, Marco? It is an amazing model.
