Thanks for tagging along guys  :)

Haven't made much progress over the week but the weathering is pretty much done now . Seatbelts remain and will get their weathering once installed . These are per-painted and I know the paint will crack and flake off ending in me having to repaint them . I didn't use the PE side panel detail . It sucks ...Tamiya is still far better , but I did use the instrument panel , seatbelts , rudder petals and a few smaller items .

Thanks Rick !

Spent a bit of time sanding and test fitting the wheel bay . I have read many build logs on guys saying that this resin part doesn't fit . To much plastic has to be removed , throws out the dildrail making the wing straight . Well I didn't seem to have any of these issues fitting this part . Once everything is finally glued up , perfect fit ! No overly thing  the plastic and the wings retained their dildrail or how ever it is spelt .

Rest of the parts for the wheel bay have been added and the base colour applied , now off to the detail painting and there is a fair amount to do .

I'm glad to see you back on this one.

I'm taking a diversion from WW1 myself at the moment - with a AMT 1/48 A-20 Havoc.  It's proving to be a challenge!

This one is back on the bench . With the P38 being olive drab good time to get this done as well . Just the canopy needs masking , rest is paint and the finish line .

Okay , so it ended up taking me 5 days to finish the masking and get the interior Green sprayed . I will let this dry for a fews before primer is applied . Don't want any paint cracks forming later . Will be using Tamiya for this , just not sure if will use their lacquer line or stay with their acrylics .

Main camo colours are now sprayed , I do have a bit of over spray to touch up with grey , An easy fix . For the underside I did the base camo using Tamiya neutral grey . followed by pershading of a slightly darker grey with an over spray of thinned Tamiya neutral grey slowing building up the layers . Top side was per-shaded using Mr.Hobby OD shadow ( very dark OD ) followed by OD #2 . This will get highlighted using OD highlight #1 .

Nice tonal variations in the OD.  The wheel wells look sufficiently busy and just awesome.
I'm sure the highlights will add to the illusion of reality.
Title: Re: Pony time again
Post by: Alexis on March 16, 2021, 03:16:04 AM
Looks like every thing dried nicely over night so I sprayed the white band on the nose and since the spinner was feeling all so alone , it get dressed in white as well . Prop blades are set for clear coating and decaling . Tail planes aren't glued yet , just place so they didn't feel left out of the photo opp ! Few spots to touch up and some detail painting and then it's off to clear coat for the decals .

Made a start on the decals with tomorrow being round 2 for the rest . This is a mixture of the kit decals and from the spare box  . The white bands on the wings will need touch up they won't fit right on the leading edge and they are cracking as well .

I find the US WW2 olive drab schemes rather dull, but with the additional markings they become much more interesting. It seems that you are bringing both projects to successful conclusions in parallel - good idea as they have similar colour schemes.

Spent the day sitting on my tussie listening to Eis Brecher new album which I got for my birthday on the 19th ! Already listen to it 7 times !

Weathering is finished on all the parts and it all got sealed with assembly underway . Not much let now , which I should have this finished up maybe tomorrow .

Probably a bit niche, but I can’t stop listening to Fionn Regan  ;)

Thanks Guy and Steve for the positive comments  :)

Must admit Guy , never heard of Fionn Regan . Not sure you will like the type of music I listen to . 98% of my music is all German bands . New German Hardness , Metal , Rock , folk Metal , Folk Rock , etc ...etc ... Other 2% is Canadian Bands , Our Lady Peace , Mathew Good Band , Rush , Tragically Hip  :)

Steve , I do have all of Rammstein's albums  ;)
