Title: Heads Up: Post Image Hacked ???
Post by: RAGIII on March 15, 2020, 06:00:15 AM
I don't know if it is Just My account or Post Image in General but today I tried to pull up one of My photos and it set off My Anti Virus. It also showed a couple of Ads that should not have been there! I hope I can remember My Flickr info as it May be awhile if ever that I can get back to using Post Image  >:(

I was hoping someone would mention sites for storing photos on line so they can be posted with a link.
I have no experience with any of them and even less understanding of how they work, so I'm no help with Post Image. Is that the one most folks use to post pics on this forum? If not, what is the preferred site. I need to learn this stuff.

Hopefully what you experienced was just a wild hair up your computer's microchip and won't be repeated.

I think the Hack is real as I tried several browsers with the same result. Again I am Not Sure if it was Just My account. That being said I started using Post Image when Photo Bucket Decided to Extort all of us and charge $300.00 plus per year to share images. If you go through old posts you will see the Damage caused by their policy. Some others use Postimage but I am not sure it is "The Most Popular". Flickr is a Yahoo affiliation. Free Hosting and sharing....up to a point. I think My Flickr account has about 700 more images I can host. There are others and hopefully someone else will chip in with suggestions. There used to be a thread on How to Post Images somewhere here on the Forum.

Hi Rick

I use Post Image as did Des so I checked my files after your post and all seems fine. No surprise advertisements or virus warnings. I don't know if there's a way to contact the Post Image people to report your problem but thanks for alerting us to this.

If any other members are having similar issues with Post Image please let us all know immediately.

cheers

Thanks for checking Dave. I was going to post an older photo from My  files and when I clicked on the photo Norton advised it blocked a Malicious attack. It did go to where one would share the image but there were viagra and other adds above My Photo. Nothing I have already posted is affected but I am afraid to try to actually download or  share an image. So I am back to Flickr for a while at least!

I switched to IMGUR immediately after the great Photo Bucket extortion debacle. It's free, seems unlimited and simple to use. You can find lots of tutorials on how to use it on Google and if I can manage it, trust me, anyone can!
Cheers,
Lance

I read that post about posting images a while back, but I'm such a computer unfriendly user that about all I got was you need to post a link if  you want your pic to show up big. This thread does answer the question I had about Photobucket. I was wondering why the fuzzy images with the Photobucket logo. Glad I missed that.

Lance

I will give IMGUR a try and see if I can drag my digital self into the current century.

Same here. Haven't had a problem since.
