Title: Rust on wings
Post by: christw on August 28, 2019, 06:29:45 PM
Hello,
I'm Christian and is building now the DH9a post-war of WNWings.
Seing the joined image, i'm wondering if what seems rust can really be rust on a WW1 wing ? (i thought wing was made of wood and linen).
Thank you.

Hi!
Of course no rust in this place of the airplane, maybe mud from tailskid also if it's too heavy to be realistic as mud.
Cheers!

Hi Christian, I look forward to seeing your post-war DH.9a.  I too am about to start one.

As for mud, the color will vary based on the type of soil or dirt where the aircraft is operating.  Shop some of the weathering products by Mig AMMO, AK Interactive, and others and you'll find all manner of mud and dirt types. Some light, some dark, some in between.

Cheers,
Eric

Hi Eric,
At the moment, the kit is nowhere, i just look for documentation. In fact, my question begins by the end.
Many thanks for advices about weathering, i know these products and must say a lack of experience with them.
It's all about daring to go...
I'm hoping you'll soon start your DH9a.
Cheers,
Christian
