This project was started long ago and finally completed. Model is straight out of the box. I may have added some detail to the cockpit but can't remember. Rigging is .006 Nitinol black oxide wire. Paint was Tamiya XF-16 flat aluminum. I had some problems with the lower surface upper wing roundels and had to borrow some from another kit. Also had some issues with the cabane struts. Overall I believe this is a good kit for a novice to start with. This kit was a good learning experience.

Really well done little Nieuport! Paining and rigging look excellent as do the markings!

Hi!
Good job for a principiant, very good!! I use too Tamiya XF.16 for the French Aluminium.
Some little things that you may correct: it seems that you didn't paint tyres, grey tyres was used by germans near the end of the war because of shortage of rubber. From photos it seems that you miss the rigging that starts from the front struts of the cabane and ending at the base of the V struts.
Next time, try to paint the divisions between wings and all the moving parts, as ailerons. There are in the market many products for this, I use the ones produced by Games Workshop for "washing" their figures. You may applied them after the decals, so you "cut" also them with paint.
Great starting model,
Roberto

"Rip",
Great start for a "novice", I'd say you have the technique of WW.I Aircraft Modelling well in hand! What's next off your work bench?
Cheers,

Yes I did miss some of the rigging. Thank you for pointing that out to me. I can easily correct that. I can correct the tires also. This is why I need this site. Live and learn!

That is a very good model for a first WW1 type. Never mind the small errors - we all make them all of the time - well I do at least!
Looking forward to seeing more of your models in future.
Stephen.

Photos with corrected rigging. I was thinking of a dark wash to darken the tires. Any thoughts?

I would give them a wash 8)

Hi!
Well done with the rigging! I don't know if washing the tyres will resolve the problem of the color.
You can make a try. I use Tamiya XF-69 Nato Black or Gunze Sangyo H77 Tyre Black.
They are not "solid black", but a little bit on the Gray side.
As a modeller, I hope everytime that I show my works other modellers may say to me where I was wrong! This will push me to be a better modeller.
Cheers,
Roberto

I have used Tamiya XF-69 but did not on this project for some reason. I may have been using it on German aircraft which may not be correct. Live and learn!

Very nicely done!
Light grey tyres were common on German aircraft as that is the natural colour of rubber and they didn't add anything to change it, but Allies tyres were darker. I'd suggest painting them with a medium to dark grey.
Excellent result for a first WWI build though!
