This has been sitting for sometime now . Other subjects got my attention and it ended up being a shelf queen . Start with the cockpit , not much detail is there so I figured a few details here and there should be added to dress it up just a bit .

:)

Awesome Terri! I first built that kit when I was about 14 (42 years ago) . You are doing an excellent job adding details !
RAGIII
-
Fantastic details Terri, at this rate its going to look like your Mustang.
-
Hi Rick , it does bring back memories for me as well . Built this kit from my youth as well . And still has a better fit then what Hasegawa offering . Not that it's a bad thing have a few of those kits as well :)
Juan , that could just happen . Wheel wells will be getting details as well and I'm also planning on cutting out the landing flaps and adding detail in there too ;)

Got the base colours on the cockpit parts , now comes the fun part ....detail painting !
Terri

Looking good T!

Detail painting is underway ...

The details are continuing to look great Terri!

Slowly making headway on this project . Still have the instrument panel to finish off so this is where I stand so far . I had to sand down the fuselage halves even more . My measurements were off ::) But I think I have a handle on that now .

Wow Terri, fantastic work thus far, are you sure its not 1/24 (LOL). Looking forward to your next installment.

Does look very good, Terri. And this is a Monogram kit?

No , it's 1/24 scale . Wouldn't have room to display afterwards if it was . ;)

Yes it is the Monograma kit from 1967 . :)

Amazing Cockpit detailing and painting T! Sure doesn't look like the one I built back in "67" ::)

Very nice interiors, and this is indeed a captivating subject.

With the SSW D.III out of the way it's time to turn my attention back on this one . Finished the rest of the instrument panel and fixed her in place . Tail wheel housing is scratch from scrap card and rod and the rad I used Ultracast rad face and the back side is scratched from some scraps . Not much of the rear will be seen , but at least something is there when viewed . I was going to cut out the gun sight , but I don't have a spare and this is waaay to small for my eyes to make . She is all glued up and should be able to start with the seems , but first detail needs to be added to the wheel bay .

I've been waiting to see more of this build. That last picture brings to mind some sort of sea creature with the mouth wide open.
This build is coming along nicely. Do post more of your progress.
-
Thanks Ken , will keep the updates coming . :)
Terri
-
Nice work!! Always a very purposeful looking airplane!!
Steve

Thanks Steve ,
Progress continues at a good pace . Side wall structure is added and bits of plumbing . Main leg is not glued in place yet . It's only there to keep other items lined up while the glue sets over night . Still have the other side to finished up and add details to the main legs . But for now this is where I'm at .

That added detail is really going to enhance the appearance of this plane.

Totally agree with Ken ;)
Lovely work, Terri

Your enhancements to the kit details is making a Huge Difference Terri! When you are finished No One will guess it is the OLD Monogram kit!
RAGIII
-
Thanks for checking in guys .
I was going to cut out the wheel wells and just use the landing gear struts , but I didn't want this to drag on for months and end up back on the shelf . So I went with what the kit offering is and a bit of gizmology while at least keeping it close to the actual aircraft .
Terri

Thats looking really good Terri. I love those old Monogram kits. I made the Hasegawa Typhoon and had more fun from the Monogram kit!

Thanks Dave , ja I do like the older kits for some types . I have build the Hawagawa one as well and still have two more in the stash and this has be a more enjoyable build .
Terri

That looks like a really interesting diversion from "serious" modelling (ie WW1 subjects) Terri - your additions are turning a basic kit into a first class model. Amazing details added.

Thanks Stephen for dropping by and for the kind comments . :)
Made a bit more progress over the weekend and now have the detailing done . Wheel bays are finished , landing gear legs and the rockets with their launchers . Other bits are ready for paint and same for the prop. Still have some small areas which need body work and then it's of to primer and paint !

I've never seen anyone put that detail on the rockets.
-
Great update!! The process is quite different on those hi tech modern WWII types - wheel wells and under carriage plumbing!!
Steve
-
Thank-you very much Juan , Rick , Ken and Steve for the most kind comments .
Ken , I'm not sure if the detail I added to the rockets is accurate or not . Tried the net , but wasn't finding what I was looking for so I took a logical approach . ( gizmologly ! ) ;)
The older kits are great test beds for practicing on , if it gets messed up to bad . It's not such a waste if it gets binned .

It was a very busy weekend in front of the bench and not just painting but decalling is also button up and sealed them ready for the next step of weathering . While I was in my zone I pulled out Italeri Hurricane Mk.IIc out of the stash since it shares the same camo why not kill two birds with one stone ! and the Hurrie is set for weathering .
Terri
-
And the Hurrie .....
-
It would appear that both of us are in high-mojo mode.
Long may that continue 8)
Excellent work, Terri ;)

Nice progress on the Tiffie, and now you're springing a Hurricane on us! Yes! Yes! Yes!

Both great looking models, Terri. Your added details really enhance the models. Looking forward to your next one.
