Title: Fokker EIII beige or grey/green
Post by: edgardo gil on May 27, 2019, 01:39:45 PM
Looking at the instructions of some Fokker EIII made by Wingnut wings I note that the Fokker colour some times are beige and others gray.
When I must paint one color or other?

Many thanks.

Since the Fokker E-types were operational during the period when camouflage of combat aircraft (and the very concept of "combat" aircraft itself!) was in its infancy, I don't think there is a "rule" to be followed. During the period it was more important for the nationality of all combatants' aircraft to be readily apparent, to avoid "friendly fire" incidents. I would follow WnW's instructions for the specific aircraft you'd like to model, as their research/documentation is extremely thorough.

Someone, please chime in with a better reply than mine!

Regards, Rob

Try this. My own interpretation butIi'm confident that many Eindeckers were not uniform beige or grey-green. Take time to look at photographs in the various publications and read Ian Huntley's excellent article on early German camouflage practices.

See my WNW E.IV (late 1916) based on a photo - showing accretion of camouflage practices mentioned by Ian Huntley. Got a 1st prize at a Wellington Model Show. This is an extreme (late) example though.
