Bristol F.2B "Fighter the Crocodile"
A year after start I was able to finish the build of this Brisfit last week, just in time to take part on exhibition and contest last weekend. This biplane was rewarded with a gold medal in 1/48 class.
The model was build from a "Limited Edition" kit 1127 by Eduard in 1/48, but was enhanced with a lot of scratch builded parts from wood and metal. For more details please see my detailed build report https://forum.ww1aircraftmodels.com/index.php?topic=9378
As usual I used paints form Alclad, Gunze, Mr.Paint and oils for weathering.
This is definitely the model with the biggest effort until now, so from that point of view it is my masterpiece.
And now the pictures!

Simply stunning Frank, the amount of detail added is world class. The build log was wonderful too. Congratulations

Simply amazing work, Frank. One of the best 1/48 scale models I’ve ever seen. Congratulations on a truly excellent model.
Cheers,
Gary

An amazing Model Frank, and I agree, your Masterpiece to date and that's saying a lot! I echo Gary's comments, the quality of your work in 1:48 Scale rivals and surpasses many larger works, simply spectacular! What's next on the "Bug Table"?

Yes, Frank, this truly is a masterpiece! I love everything about it. Certainly deserving of the gold medal and all the accolades here. Well worth the effort, I'd say. You've inspired me to dig out my Eduard Brisfish and start cutting parts from the sprue.
Cheers,
Bud

Hello my friends,
thank you to all of you!
On this pictures I detected, that two rigging lines was "glued" together by the steel paint, this is fixed now.
Still an outstanding masterpiece.
Thank you Manni! I remember your first post in the build report ;)
I hope you manage this year a visit in Wilnsdorf on Sunday, 28.April so I'm able to present my models to you. This will me more then this one for sure!
First class all round.
Thanks Matt!
You take it to a whole new level...
Guy, the sum of all the details create this level, but for the price of a lot of effort.
Your build log was informative and full of tips for us mortal modelers! Brilliant work all around!!
Rick, nice to hear that! A build log takes effort, but if you find it useful I can continue that way.
a top world class model - all around!
the amount of detail added is world class.
One of the best 1/48 scale models I’ve ever seen.
PrzemoL, Juan and Gary - if you all saying somthing like that, I need a red_head_smiley and I should start to believe it ::)
Since I know some parts, which could be done better, like small color things, here and there a wrong angle ... 8)
What's next on the "Bug Table"?
Thanks Lance! At the moment I'm a bit tired and out of motivation, but I should start to work on my group build model soon. So the unfinished Dolphin have to wait.
You've inspired me to dig out my Eduard Brisfish and start cutting parts from the sprue.
That is a great praise! Be only careful with the fuselage halves!
Cheers,
Frank

As I have commented before Frank, this is an outstanding model, worthy of a Gold medal in any competition. The level of detail surpasses that found on many larger scale models - it is truly amazing. and worthy of all the praise bestowed on it.
Stephen.
-
Stunning outcome!! I have been watching the building thread and those little self-made details made incredible quality of what you are presenting now.
regards

Thank you Stephen and K!
I meantime I made a picture with the medal - it was no nice by the jury, to select a ribbon which matches the model colors ;D

On last weekend I visited the Euro Model Expo 2022 in Lingen which is the biggest model exhibition in Germany.
Since it was my first time, I had full freedom in choosing some of my models for the competition :)
The Bristol Fighter won a gold medal in the category aircraft in scale 1:48 Master class (there was in each category Beginner, Standard and Master) at the Euro Model Expo 2022 in Lingen.
Here together with my other medals.
I have two gold medals in the same category. According to the written jury instructions (which could be viewed on the internet beforehand), the candidates were to be re-evaluated in the case of identical points, but as far as I know the jury did not feel able to do this and reported back in this way, so a total of 3 models in 1:48 were awarded gold here.
It makes me very happy to have won three gold medals in the Master class 8)
Cheers,
Frank

Warmest congratulations, Frank. Highly deserved trophies!
-
Hear hear! Well done Frank, congratulations and well earned!
-
Beautiful models Frank - worthy winners all!

Thank you very much!
The Crocodile has reached Gold in Fürstenfeldbruck, Ried and now at the EME.
This is still one of my best models, but now I need a different highlight for the next year, if I participate again. I would not put the same model into the same contest again.
Cheers,
Frank

A very well deserved win!
God, my Brisfit looks rubbish compared to your one!

Definitely 'Bughunter' level work! Congratulations again on the award - very deserving.
