Hi all,
My only airshow for the NZ season was also the only show for The Vintage Aviator, Wings Over Wairarapa at their home base. The forum's own Jamo was one of the TVAL commentary team and did a great job, it was good to catch up with him briefly.
Poor weather meant only two of the seven or eight projected WW2 types attended, and an incident in Australia cancelled the much-anticipated and publicised B-52 appearance, but they still put on a fine show including several WW1 scenarios. This being the forum it is, those are the machines I'll focus on!

Highlights for me were the DH.4 - I've waited a long time to see this one fly, let alone any example - and it showed off a fair bit, much more agile than I imagined; and the fact the observers in the DH.4 and the original Bristol F.2B had guns firing blanks, and the Dr,I has working guns too. It really added to the display.

I was there too. Took the trip from Perth, met up with a mate from Canberra and then had the pleasure of meeting James Fahey. He did a great job, showing his obvious considerable knowledge and gently correcting his fellow commentator who described the DH4 as a DH2 with a Schwarlose m/g!
A great turn out of flying WW1 types. Loved it when the Camel pilot “blipped” the rotary engine and when the two Pups flew side-by-side. Seeing the three beautiul Albies flying together was also something special.
IMO the most gorgeous thing at the show was the LVG.
And the kiwi hosts were magnificent everywhere we went.
