Title: IRAS Morane-Saulnier N, 1/32
Post by: rhallinger on October 30, 2012, 04:35:23 AM
Now that I've finally figured out the photo thing a little, here are some shots of my Russian M-S, Type N, from the Special Hobbies kit, modified to include a Vickers MG.  The decals are from the Begemot M-S sheet.  I've always liked the IRAS death's head rudders!

This was my third build after getting back into aircraft modeing a year ago.  Always learning!

Oh yes, I neglected to mention that the rigging was done with monofilament and Bob's Buckles!

That is a very attractive looking Morane Saulnier Bob, I too like the deaths head decal on the tail, very eye catching. You have done a very good job on the rigging and the overall finish is excellent, being only your third model after a long break I think we are all in for a treat when you start your next build, well done Bob.

Looks great, Bob - I especially like the rigging with the turnbuckles.

Beautifully done, Bob.  Outstanding job on the modifications and the wing shading is superb.
Cheers,
Bud

I like it very much!! She`s a pretty girl. Did you build it OOB or add something? I remember I had a puzzle with the engine control in this plane. In eduard`s kit there was no throttle or mixture control lever... I love MS and the Russian scheme is pretty nice.
You could add some weathering though. Especially the paint on the cowling had the tendency to chip on these planes...
Congrats mate and keep them coming!
BTW MS type N was the third model after my brake too there`s a link below should you want to see it:

Thanks Filip!  I do need to work on my weathering.  Your MS looks great!  The color of the French CDL and the weathering looks very realistic.

I modified the Special Hobbies kit by adding a Vickers MG and a different propeller--both extras from the WNW Sopwith Pup kit--to match the Russian prototype.  I also made the sheet metal housing over the machine gun from 10 thou plastic card, which was flexible enough to bend in the necessary arc.

The Moranes are interesting little planes.  I would like to build a 1/32 Type L, Parasol, some day, too.

Regards,

Bob

Excellent model! How were the Begemot decals to work with?

Hi Rob!  The Begemot decals were excellent.  Sturdy enough to handle easily and adjust position, but snuggled down very well.  I used some MicroSol and a hairdryer.  No problems.

I also have their Nieuport 11 sheet for the IRAS.  A future project.  ;)

Bob
