Another CSM oldie which may be re-issued in limited run plastic. Not sure when, but probably 2019.
I bought this kit from Eric back in 2010 (original release was 1996). It's old and it shows. The fuselage was almost completely solid with a very small open cockpit area. I took a Dremel to it almost immediately, then set it aside until just a couple weeks ago. Here are some in progress photos. I'm really moving along on this little thing and will probably have her done in about a week.

This cowling is a mess and is going to require some serious attention.

The only interior parts that came with the kit were an undersized pe rudder bar, an oversized pe half disc with a single hole in it to represent an instrument panel and a very flat pe U shaped piece for the control column grip. That wouldn't do, so I cobbled something up with Evergreen stock, and scraps from the spares box.

The floor, rudder bar and the control column came straight out of an Eduard Pfalz D.IIIa kit. The seat came from the spares box, seat belts are Eduard pe, ammo can modified from spares box, top of ip is Eduard pe, bottom half is scratched, compass is scratched with Eduard face.

Drooling Bulldog Silbergrau. Probably the best paint I've ever used. Sprayed it last night and I immediately ordered the entire line.
Decals are halfway finished.

That's all for now. More in a couple days.

Good to hear Bud, I was gifted a bottle of the stuff this weekend and I'm looking forward to trying it.
Where did you order the set from, direct or is there a US Distributer? It's looking awesome already, great subject!
Cheers,
Lance

Bud, that is the message of the day for me!
After the Dornier D.I then also a Pfalz Dr.I. Christmas time!
I don't want to buy new kits, but those I have to! 8)
That looks nice, what you are doing with this resin kit!
Cheers,
Frank

The silver finish is one of the best I have seen in a long time. The interior details are first class too - in all another winner from the master's table.
Stephen.

Looking at those chunks of resin fuselage halves and challenges ahead, you are certainly working some "Coyote Magic" on this kit, making good progress on it and turning it into a winner. I agree, the silver looks great as does the work you have done on it thus far. Keep those photo's coming.

Yes, Bud: Where did you get it? I would like to try it as well.

Thank you so much for the kind comments, my friends!
Lance and Mark, I ordered the DB paints directly from the source.

Amazing build Bud. She looks larger than 1/48.
-
Thanks, Juan! This really a tiny plane. Wingspan is 7" and nose to rudder only 4 1/2".
Cheers,
Bud
-
Bud, this plane looks really great. An other proof of your skills.
Bye,
Manni

Bud, I join the line of those who appreciate this masterclass model and the silvery livery you gave to it!
Wow!
-
I like it too, looks really like the original!

Wow, Bud this is a fantastic little build!
Great work!
-
Thanks, Manni, Andonio, Frank and Gaz! Much appreciated.
Thanks for posting that photo, Frank. That's how she looked right off the assembly line. I will try to show mine as she looked when test flown by Richthofen with a new prop and replacement struts.
After a great deal of filing, sanding, bending, pushing, prodding, twisting and cursing, she is now a triplane.
Now, the rigging begins. Shouldn't take too long. ;)
Cheers,
Bud
-
Wow, already a Triplane :o
That build was really fast! Good luck with the rigging, the gear is also done already.
If someone has a collection of triplanes, this type needs to be part of that.
Cheers,
Frank

I miss a couple of days and this is nearly finished.... That was quick Bud. Super finish on the paintwork - this is going to be another of your stunners I can tell.
