I finished the new SH-kit. I used AVIATTIC linnen decals, a Gaspatch MG and a WNW rotary.
The kit was a joy to build and my model represents a Fokker D. II of Jasta 16b (former KEK Ensisheim) at the turn of 1916/1917. It's one of the planes that were painted by Lt. Fritz Grünzweig.

Lovely, indeed!

I enjoyed following your build as always. Your painting, rigging, and weathering are awesome. The figure and groundwork certainly set this beautiful aircraft model off! Finally the Hand painted Grasshopper insignia is a work of art on it's own!

Outstanding as usual Andreas. Beautifully done, loved the build log also.

Spectacular finish Andreas! You've done a magnificent job on this little beauty. I'll be coming back to your Under Construction Thread often when I start mine. The hand painted Grass Hopper addition is particularly well done! :)
Cheers,
Lance

Superb results, Andreas.
I've never seen a wet base before.

That cartoon on the nose is just spectacular. The build was a joy to follow (as always), and the finished model displays your supreme talents to very good advantage. Many congratulations.
Stephen.

Very nice work, Andreas! I love your choice of camouflage colours on the wings too (amongst all the other nice weathering, painted markings, etc etc obviously!) and will get me Revell 37 for that elusive reddish brown. I like the contrast with the green. :)

Fantastic, Andreas! As I said before, I love your work, the Plane is a stunner and the groundwork plus the figure are the cherry on top.
Bye,
Manni

Due to lucky circumstances I was able to see this model in real live last weekend - most impressive, really!
This is a masterpiece in all aspects, also the base with all the real looking wet puddles is great (if you see that you want to put the model to a dry place immediately).
Thank you for the nice talk, Andreas!
Cheers,
Frank

Thank you vey much, Bud and Frank!
Frank, your words honor me more than I deserve. It was a joy to meet you in person and to be able to look at your quarter scale masterpieces in reality.

Thank you!
Oh yes, Special Hobby released this kit in 1/48 scale long before their 1/32 version, have a look here:
https://www.specialhobby.eu/en/our-own-production/special-hobby/fokker-d-ii-black-white-tails.html
It has even the same boxart like the 1/32 kit, but the 1/48 box is blue, the 1/32 box is green...
There was another 1/48 kit made by Gavia, but I think that one is out of production:
http://www.internetmodeler.com/2000/february/first-looks/gavia_fokkerd2.htm
The Gavia boxart shows the 2nd, better known plane painted by Grünzweig. That one had camouflaged fuselage sides and running legs painted onto the wheel covers.

Andreas, the 1/48 D.II seems to be the same kit.
If you look at the sprues in your posted Gavia review and compare them against the PDF form Special Hobby, you will find no difference. So fo me it looks like, that Special Hobby has taken over the injection die from Gavia (as lately seen with the Pfalz E.I), after Gavia was going out of the business.
Cheers,
Frank
