TVAL have two Fokker DVIII reproductions both fitted with a new build Oberursel rotary engine. I understand that the airframes were built by Achim Engels and the wing by Koloman Mayrhofer. When I asked him about the choice of olive green for the wing, Gene DeMarco said they did not have solid references for the mocha/green/purple/azur finish that has been discussed in various forums.

I understand the black and white stripes on the tails are also questionable - apparently the centre stripe is the wrong width and/or the wrong colour. There's a discussion somewhere on the 'drome.
Yes, looking at photos in the Datafile shows some differences in the tail striping. Still, they are brilliant reproductions and lovely to watch with the rotary engines buzzing away. Curiously the TVAL website does not have many photos posted yet. Can't wait to see them fly later this month (weather permitting). Wiil you be there RB?

On another forum Sean O'Brien posted these artworks by Ronnie Bar showing his interpretation of the mocha/green/azur/violet dyes listed in the manufacturer's schedule:

Curious TVAL went for the solid olive, whether you buy DSA's exact colors or not, the case against the solid olive is pretty strong IMO.
Thanks for sharing the great pictures, Jamo.
