Hi there, longtime lurker here from Austin, TX.
Here's the beginning of my 1/48 scale CSM Sopwith Dolphin. I've tried to improve small bits here and there, but it's a superb kit straight out of the box. I'm building the regular version without the full resin engine.
Started out with the fuselage halves. Sprayed alclad aluminum in the engine bay area, masked and sprayed Mr. Color "Sail Color" with some darkening along the interior structure. Then masked the framework and began the wood grain using Ochre and Burnt Umber oils.

Starting on the rest of the interior parts. The PE ammunition is a special kind of crazy:

Welcome aboard, Excellent start! I’ll be watching closely as I have this in my stash, and I’m strongly leaning towards it being my next project once I finish my Sopwith Triplanes.

An excellent start. The Copper State Dolphin is a very nice kit.

Hi Mike. Welcome to one of the greatest forums on the web. These guys have taught me so much in the last few months
.
Nice to see one of these getting built. I like your approach to painting wood grain framing over linen. Very curious to see it after the masking comes off.

Mike, I have one of these kits too. It looks really nice. I'll be interested to see how your build goes.

After all the big WNW Dolphins its nice to see the smaller CSM one too.
I will watch closely and may be start mine this year, depending on progress of the running projects. This great start is really promising!

Hi All,
Thanks for the warm welcome.
I've gotten a coat of Tamiya clear yellow over the oil paints. This lightens the wood color and removes some of the red look.
Top fuselage is without clear yellow, bottom is with:
