Next up is the Eduard Fokker Dr.1
It's the weekend edition but I have acquired the Eduard PE kit for the build. Also included are Aviattic streaked camouflage.
The markings will be for Deutsche Luftstreitkräfte (Imperial German Air Force 1916-1920) 564/17 (Lt. Werner Steinhauser).

Made a start with the engine using Vallejo MA Aluminium, Brass, umber wash and Mr Hobby burnt iron
Will give it a light coat of gloss varnish before installation to bring out some lustre.

Aha! Now I've got an expert to imitate ;D

Really great looking engine! Nice start on one of my favorite aircraft and schemes.

Great start, Toby! That engine looks excellent.

Nice start Toby, looking forward to your progress.

Started on the interior. It's so nice to have a kit where all the parts fit where they're supposed to.
I have another 4 in the stash. I may spend the rest of my life making little Fokkers. ;D

Word of warning. Make sure the bar that goes across the center, just in front of the control column, is securely attached.
I didn't do that, and now have a major pain trying to reattach it through the tiny cockpit opening.

Very nice work,Toby. Looks as if there will be a stunning Dr.1 in your showcase.
bye,

Now for the joining of two halves.
Softscience, thanks for your advice. I will make sure everything is in place before I marry up the fuselage.

Great start! Steinhauser's is the prettiest of all the Jasta 11 tripes in my opinion.
Best regards

I decided to get the Aviattic bespoke decals rather than make up my own from their streaked camouflage decals.

I tried applying the starboard decal without removing the forward outlet with dire results. "Repairs" effected but a mistake I won't make again. I will try and tidy up the repair before the end.

So I cut the port one off, applied the decal and then reattached the outlet

I did attach the top decal but my initial fitting of the side decals left a gap so I've had to make up a new one from the streaked camouflage set I already had from Aviattic. Still not correct but most will be hidden by the triangle decals. In future builds when using these bespoke decals I'll make sure there is no gap. One way will be sanding away about a .5 mm from the fuselage halves to ensure the top decal is big to cover with no gaps.

Moving along nicely !

Seems like a fiddly job... probably one of the reasons I'll do my 1/32 with oils... decals and me, just can't seem to get along.
Persistance will pay off, though!
