Here is my LVG C.CI "Eleynor" built in 3 months from spring to summer 2009. This was my first 1/32 scale and also my first WWI project. I was deeply impressed from the complexity and the wooden surface of the original LVG.
Building the complex cockpit with its interior was a good way to get some experiences with wooden surfaces. The etched seatbelts are in my opinion too flat, so i cutted the locks and used aluminium foil. I added some control cables and gave the tank a heavily used finish with black laquer on underlying brass. Having no experiences in imitating wooden structures, I followed the instructions by using tamiyas XF59, sealed with future. While applying the oilpaint in different colours like sienna, umbra and english red, I found it extremly important to find the right consistence and the right moment to create the grain look. I made good experience by using a brush instead of a sponge.

Dirk,
I'm absolutely staggered this is your first WW1 aircraft model - If you had not said so, I would never have known. Stunning build, mate!
Look forward to seeing your future projects.

Absolutely brilliant, Dirk! The LVG C.VI is my favorite German aircraft and "Eleynor" is my favorite scheme. You've done a phenomenal job on her. Superb wood grain effect.

What a beautiful looking model! I'm just about to start this kit so your images are inspiring, to say the least. If my woodwork looks half as good as yours, I'll be pleased.
Cheers,
Chris
