Nice review of the new Wingnut Wings Jeannin Stahltaube (1914) here.

A much better one is up at LSM: https://forum.largescalemodeller.com/topic/5306-132-jeannin-stahltaube-1914/

Outstanding kit from Wingnut Wings. What else would we expect? However, I wouldn’t say that the two reviews are unequal, or that one is much better than the other. They are different reports and formats on the same kit. I’d say the LSP has more to say about the Taube’s history than Hyperscale’s and less about the Stahltaube and the kit itself. Both serve their purpose, to showcase yet another Wingnut Wings kit.

You raise some good points. I guess what I prefer about the LSM review is the photography - I prefer reviews which show the plastic in detail so I know what I'm buying.
And here's a third, in case anyone needs it! http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235028557-jeannin-stahltaube-1914-wingnut-wings-132/

And here's a fourth one, my own on LSP (note: LSM is a different entity altogether):

To me, publishing aircraft histories in a kit review is a waste of time and space; that information is generally available elsewhere, and it's not why people are reading a kit review.

Kev, to my eye yours is the best of a very good lot.
you don't just show the sprues but you zoom in on specifics that will affect one's build, like the turnbuckles. it's useful info for modelers of all skill levels.
i wish more kit reviewers would follow your template for in box reviews.

So do I. Especially whem the history is only an abbreviation of the Wikipedia article on the subject like it is often the case with reviews (generally speaking, not regarding the mentioned reviews here). If you have no more information than Wikipedia, just give the link and that's it...

Another ditto to the above and to your EXCELLENT review !

Thanks, fellas. If the subject matter is so obscure or esoteric that merely mentioning it results in head-scratching, then I might include something about it, or a link to Wikipedia, at least. I've just fixed a couple of typos in my review, too - amazing how you don't notice them at the time, despite multiple proof-reads!

Sprue Brothers shows they have the kit in stock. Price is $119.99. No affiliation with the company. Just passing the info along.

Yep, I had asked if they were going to stock it, and at that time, was told it was stuck in Customs. Saw it was in stock this afternoon; ordered it, along with a Ship's Camel & a pair of Vickers to get over $200 for free shipping. Only took 45 minutes to get the shipping notice from Sprue, and it'll be here in Colorado Wednesday. Can't wait to have it in my hands!

I saw that SB notice too. Almost bought one right then but put it on my birthday wish list instead.

I will wait until "Black Friday" to buy my copy, not in any rush.
-
Cheaper at LotsOfModels than the Black Friday event...
123.00 shipped with the LOTS2BUY coupon...No affiliation...Free shipping too...

I looked at the base price at Lots of Models and it is 134.95. Even with a coupon don't see it less that $119. Still waiting for some sites to offer a sale price for some of the wingnut kits, would like to get a Salmson then maybe the Jeannin Stahltaube down the road. Being in Canada, doesn't matter where I order gonna cost more.
-
What else can you buy in the USA for $119?
An hour and a half massage.
One-eighth of a new iPhone.
A month’s long cable subscription.
A decent Spyderco folding knife.
Dinner and a movie for two.
A pair of running shoes.
A visit to the vet for your pet.
A Jeannin Stahltaube by Wingnut Wings.
Perspective.

Derrick,
Have you tried Wheels and Wings Hobbies in Toronto?
[email protected]
I've bought two Wingnut Wings Kits from them since they became the (I believe) primary Canadian Distributor. After factoring in currency exchange and postage fees their price still beat or at least matched ordering from out of country, and without the risk of customs/border fees. Their selection was excellent last time I checked.
Cheers,
Lance

As my birthday is in two weeks, I decided that was good enough reason to order one from SB! It arrived at my PO Box today but I probably won't pick it up until tomorrow. ;D

I sent them an email today. Thanks.

Sadly the special deal ended on September 30. ...

the pre order on the Ammo site is still valid, no special 'Black Friday' prices, although shipping costs are ok.
