Hello guys! The model will be entirely hand painted, without use decals. Thanks for masks to Ondra Mokry! Seatbelts from HGW, engine from Copper State Models. Paints Drooling Bulldog.

I went for the middle option

I modelled his dog too:

And started a figure of Jakobs to match your first image. I must finish him
Got to love a black 'plane

Incredible build only surpassed by your painting. Looking forward to your progress.

Really well done DR1! Your subtle weathering of the black is excellent! Thanks for sharing.

Fantastic hand painting skills. This is an awesome devil's head on the fuselage. Jakobs painting sheme is one of my favoured and you did this really fine!

I agree that the painting is very good indeed. The interior details are also excellent and the dog just individualises it. Well done.

That is amazing painting! Wow and at 1:48 to boot. Looking forward to more!

I have caused some confusion and need to remove my pictures. The 1:32 DR.I is mine, Von Mertens 1:48 DR.I is the subject of this thread and has the North Wind hand painted on the side

Spectacular! Far better than any of the decals I've seen for this plane.

Great overall finish, great details, and superb weathering effects. The painted markings are in their own league, extraordinarily well done. Hard to believe it's in 1:48 Scale, this is very nice work, von Mertens!

Echo the others, masterly brush painting! But what else would we have expected from and academic artist, right? ;)
I am glad I could help you with the masks. Feel free to call me Harry Plotter. :)

I couldn't agree more. I think he may even look nicer that what was on Jacobs' real aircraft.

Really looking super! I was impressed that it is hand painted but did I get it right that you are using Drooling Bulldog paints? I didn't think they were conducive to hand painting.

+1,000, as stated by others, looks better than any decals available.
-
I thank for support! The main color fields are made "Drooling Bulldog" paints, volume by oil paints has been given then.

Combination of masks and handpainting is amazing! Way better than decals.
Just had my first experience with drooling bulldog paint. Wasn't planning on trying another kind (mrp, Tamiya, alclad, valejo already on shelf) but they were the only ones that made Pfalz silvergrey. Was really happy with the way they sprayed. Nice to know they may be brushable as well if I need to touch up.
