Title: F.K. 8 late version CSM 1/48
Post by: Jorgo on May 11, 2017, 03:10:19 AM
Hi, friends!

I started with F.K. 8 late Version, another very nice kit from CSM. Excellent detail, exceptional moulding quality, finely-printed decals and a lot of PE´s.
Last but not least a resin Beardmore 160hp and a fine booklet!

The aircraft I try to build:

I began with the instrument board

Excellent decals for the instruments included!

Cheers,
Jörg

Edgar, you have eyes like a hawk  ;) (and you know your kits like the back of your hand! That´s the reason why you produce such splendid kits!)   :)
I´ll add the round PE part immediately (broke it while making pictures...)

Cheers,
Jörg

Hi friends, I´m back on the FK 8 late (had a lot of work in real life in the last weeks). The following pics now come along via picload.org - PB for me is over now...

Bending and assembling the PE´s is rather easy, thanks to the excellent work of CSM!

I cut out a small piece of the fuselage, so later on you can see a bit more of the cockpit details

the CDL will be simulated by leadfoil or alufoil, I don´t know yet

Dear friends,
after a long, long time (shame on me...) I´m back on the FK8, this kit is so good that it has to be completed!

Initially I continued to work on the inner life

 (https://abload.de/img/p1000952mekj2.jpg) (https://abload.de/image.php?img=p1000952mekj2.jpg)

(https://abload.de/img/p100094825k3u.jpg) (https://abload.de/image.php?img=p100094825k3u.jpg)

(https://abload.de/img/p1000950k8juv.jpg) (https://abload.de/image.php?img=p1000950k8juv.jpg)

(https://abload.de/img/p1000951omky6.jpg) (https://abload.de/image.php?img=p1000951omky6.jpg)

Then I started with the engine, the resin premium set Beardmore is very crisp with many details

(https://abload.de/img/p10009530pjhr.jpg) (https://abload.de/image.php?img=p10009530pjhr.jpg)

(https://abload.de/img/p1000955rrjsx.jpg) (https://abload.de/image.php?img=p1000955rrjsx.jpg)

(https://abload.de/img/p1000956u4kvi.jpg) (https://abload.de/image.php?img=p1000956u4kvi.jpg)

Test fitting, there is still a lot of piping to add

(https://abload.de/img/p1000960wwkph.jpg) (https://abload.de/image.php?img=p1000960wwkph.jpg)

I hope you forgive this late continuation of the topic

Cheers,
Jörg

Thank you for your kind comments!

Now the wings are prepainted, for PC 10 I used the mixture suggested bei WNW (XF 62 + XF 10, 2:1)
(https://abload.de/img/p101000495jhk.jpg) (https://abload.de/image.php?img=p101000495jhk.jpg)

Fuselage is almost closed and some PE parts fixed

(https://abload.de/img/p1010001bik8y.jpg) (https://abload.de/image.php?img=p1010001bik8y.jpg)

(https://abload.de/img/p101000226j2g.jpg) (https://abload.de/image.php?img=p101000226j2g.jpg)

(https://abload.de/img/p1010009t1jli.jpg) (https://abload.de/image.php?img=p1010009t1jli.jpg)

The PE parts for the cowling are tricky to bend, a lighter proved to be very useful

You made great work on a very nice kit! I have the mid version in stash, so I will keep an eye on this build.
This a great gesture by CSM to add spare PE for complicated parts. The first one may fail, but with the next try you typically know the way to go.

Cheers,
Frank

The fabric hanging is a Brilliant piece of Modeling!! I like it much better than just leaving off a whole section. Adds to the believability,IMHO!

Jorgo, I keep writing that it is a shame to hide away all the magnificent detail on the models on this site, (your engine BTW has blown my mind!!) so your idea to show the fabric on the fuselage side pulled away is super! That is so realistic with the holes and folds that for a moment I thought that it was real.

I do hope that others will follow your lead - I could not replicate what you have done so I am reduced to building strip down models!

Stephen.
