Title: Self made "Grasmaster" for static gras
Post by: Manni on April 27, 2017, 05:39:42 PM
Hello,
In my last buildlog I used a self made grasmaster to make gras tufts and complete lawns for my base.
Some fellows asked me to give some futher tips do make their own.
You just need an electric fly swatter (? hope it is the right word)

(https://abload.de/img/steuber-elektrische-fh7jr0.jpg) (http://abload.de/image.php?img=steuber-elektrische-fh7jr0.jpg)

a tea sieve and some copperwire and a needle or nail

(https://abload.de/img/grasmaster_g_211kw5.jpg) (http://abload.de/image.php?img=grasmaster_g_211kw5.jpg)

You TAKE OUT THE BATTERIES and open up the swatter, cut off the part with the "net" and put the gip of the metal tea sieve into the grip of the swatter.
there are two cables, that are leading to the net. Take one cable and attache it to the sieve and extend the other one with some insulated copper wire.
Now close the grip with the sieve and one wire hanging out of it.
Attach the nail to the loose end of the wire and insert batteries again.
....and that's it.

Now put some white glue to your base and stick the needle into it. Put some gras into the sieve, push the "on" button of the swatter and get close to your base and you will see what happens.
Later you can also work overhead with it to get an even better result.

Don't be afraid of the current it is harmless it is high current with low ampere it just tickles you it you touch it.
Have fun with this max. 8€ device.

What a great idea and it seems to work, as your photos indicate. I'll definitely give ita try.

Besides of that: Even the flies are happy with this kind of disarmament. Swords into plowshares! - and fly swatters into modelling devices!  :)

Thank you, Andreas.
I forget to mention, If you drop white gue on aluminum foil and put even long gras on it you can make your own gras tufts. They will look like the one offered by Mig, AK Woodland or mininatur.

hi Manni! thank you for the tutorial!
may I ask you a question?
why did you have to repalce the swatter with the tea sieve? do you use the sieve to place the grass in and then 'seed' the base?
thank you again!
ciao

Hi , Edo, it helps to orientate the gas verticaly.
And yes, you put the grass into the sieve and tip with the finger the side of the sieve.
