Hello!
This kit is nice but requires a lot of personal work!
The cockpit is very very poor in detail. I was inspired by his brother at 1/32!

I have completely rebuilt the cockpit:

you are doing an incredible job. my old bud doug bauman did a 1/36 scratch built one 10 years ago that was amazing. who knew back then a 1/32 one would come out someday.

Your AEG is up to WnW standards now. Looking great and I really can`t wait till the next update.
You can tone down the leather on the seats a little bit using the pastels or Tamiya`s weathering set.

Great job on this beast of a kit.

Indeed. Incredibile work!
I love all your outputs, so detailed, inventive and really neat.
Keep looking

Arnaud,
That's great detail work you've done on the interior; I'm presently working on the Wingnut Wings 1:32 kit and I'm seeing a few things on your Build that I should consider on this larger one. Great work, and I'll be following this one!
Cheers,
Lance

For a moment I thought I was looking at the 1/32nd kit! Your painting is looking outstanding ! Beautiful work!

Thank you very much! :)
The engines are horrible, and it's quite difficult .... :-X

If you're interested CMK makes a 1/48 260 hp Mercedes engine in resin. I bought a couple to replace those in the kit.

Great paint job, Looks really great.

Hello all! :)
Same as HB D.I...; This one also suffered years away from home. :'(
The paint has been removed for a better view of the damage.

I took the opportunity to finally add some details that I had overlooked at the time.
On the programme:
- leather beading around the cockpit openings
- fuselage lacing in PART brand PE
- foot steps
- plate on top of fuselage
- first parts of the bomb racks under the fuselage (the part needs to be reshaped, as on the WNW)
- Mats redone in brass sheet, folded, stressed, cut and then soldered.

The next step will be to work on the engines. I'm going to take an AZModel Gotha engine and improve it. Then I'll probably make a resin mold.
It's quite difficult. This kit is a pain, really difficult for me :-X
A bient?t

Your painting was gorgeous but with the New details and re-build I am sure it will be even better. Terrific work on the struts. I am looking forward to your progress!

Another one back from the dead! Looks like a lot of work but I am sure this will be fantastic. The work on those struts is very impressive.

Wonderful strut work.
I've been so tempted to grab this off evilbay, I'm having second thoughts.

Hello friends :),
Not much time to spend on the forum. I already spend 12 to 13h/day on a PC with my eyes glued to my screens.
I took over this one while waiting for a Fokker Dr.1 triplet to dry.
I finalized the surface details, and undercoated it with AK primer diluted with the brand's thinner:
(https://i.servimg.com/u/f41/15/91/10/06/10000141.jpg) (https://servimg.com/view/15911006/1873)

(https://i.servimg.com/u/f41/15/91/10/06/10000140.jpg) (https://servimg.com/view/15911006/1871)
Quick pre-shadowing in the knowledge that you'll need to lightly post-shadow with oils afterwards anyway:
(https://i.servimg.com/u/f41/15/91/10/06/10000142.jpg) (https://servimg.com/view/15911006/1874)
(https://i.servimg.com/u/f41/15/91/10/06/10000143.jpg) (https://servimg.com/view/15911006/1875)
Quick pre-shading, in the knowledge that you'll have to do a little post-shading with oils afterwards anyway. Then I start camouflaging the fuselage with my bare hands, before doing the same on the wings and moving parts:

Very nice job indeed on that camo pattern, that's a tough pattern to get right.

Wow ! fab job on the camo , not a easy pattern to do .

Excellent work on that camo job. Cheers!

Hello friends,
Thanks for your messages!

I finished the camouflage on the wings.
WNW says there was black speckling on the lower surfaces. What do you think? Is it more of a dark wash, or some kind of sponge work? I can't find anything on this subject.
Thanks in advance!
Arnaud
-
More excellent work on airbrushing that camo, very effective. Regarding the colour scheme, I suggest you look through the original photos on the WNW website which show some of the field applied camo and draw your own conclusions. Most seem to be brush/sponge type effects.
-
That does look sharp !
Alexis
-
Great progress.
Going up to see the real deal in Canada in a couple of weeks.
