Title: Clear coat for Tamiya paint
Post by: rolanddvi on April 15, 2017, 11:26:28 PM
Hello everyone,

I am currently building a WNW Snipe and have just painted the fuselage with Tamiya paint. I'm at the stage where I need to give it a gloss coat before I put the decals on. Any suggestions on what brand I should use? I usually use Testors Gloss but I'm not sure if that is compatible with Tamiya paint?

thanks,
Mike

Tamiya has a clear gloss.  I think the bottle is X-22, which I would expect would be compatible with the rest of their paint.  Also, many people (including me), use Future floor polish as a clear coat.  I think the current name it is marketed under in the US is "Pledge with Future Shine"; get the one for multi-surfaces, not the one for wood floors.  If necessary, it thins with rubbing alcohol.
