Title: WNW Junkers J.1 and Aviattic
Post by: uncarina on March 25, 2017, 05:07:32 AM
Here's my build of the Wingnut Wings Junkers J.1, the first kit issued by WNW and still in production. I purchased this kit when it first came out, and it sat on the Shelf of Doom for  five or six years. I used Aviattic decals for the first time, and I loved how strong, resilient, and tolerant they were! Painted with Tamiya acrylics, Vallejo Metal colors, and oils, with a combination of Flory washes, oil washes, and pastels, with some chipping with a Prismacolor pencil.

Cheers,  Tom

Superb model: what a shame it had to wait so long before completion. Well worth the wait though.

Steve and Stephen,

Thanks! It was 80% completed, and I needed to get it done. It was gratifying seeing it through to completion.

The Junkers is maybe the one WNW kit that I thought wasn't worth building. You may have changed that. Very nice, love the scheme, like the colours. Thanks for sharing

Paul, thank you! As soon as I saw this aircraft in these markings I knew that it was the one for me, despite the custom markings and challenge of cutting out and applying the lozenge.

Beautiful job, Tom!  This is my favorite J.I scheme.
Cheers,
Bud

I have to agree with Bud! As for the scheme I have felt the J1 to be rather boring until now! Striking scheme and makes this kit tempting.

But you've forgotten to rig it?

Great J.1, Tom
absolute my favourite scheme on this plane, you have done it really perfect.
Did you do the decals for the numbers by yourself? Or is it able to buy then somewhere.
Bye,
Manni

Manni,

Thank you! All but the large "6"'s and small "8"'s were provided. I printed those, but since I only have an inkjet printer they came out incomplete. I finished them by using an 0.005" black marker pen.

Cheers,  Tom

Tom, that is a great build in some really great and interesting colours. Your workmanship is superb... If I go straight out and buy one of these kits, you are to blame! Great work! Marc
