Just found out from my younger brother that my Father Passed away Last Night. He was a WW2 Vet, US Marines Saipan Campaign. My RAGIII comes from he and my Grandfather . Richard Andrew Geisler Sr., Richard Andrew Geisler Jr. and (Richard Andrew Geisler III). My father was 92 so he had a hell of a run as my brother said. Gods Speed Dad!

Thanks to all for your comments and well wishes/prayers. I thought I would be more prepared for this news than I was. I am OK and will be traveling to Florida in a couple of weeks for services. A funny thing about his service on Saipan. Although he received a Purple Heart Medal he always said it was attained by cutting his leg while jumping in a slit trench during a Washing Machine Charlie bomb raid. His only keepsake from the campaign was a speeding ticket from an Army MP while driving a jeep for a Marine Corps Colonel. His story was that the Colonel told the MP to do something nasty with a sabre and his posterior ;D He never really talked much about the realities of the war. He will be missed but I know he is at peace.

So sorry for your loss, Rick. A Marine, a Veteran, and a good Father...... quite a good run and then some I`d say! Remember the good times and cherish them, sadly not many of that very brave generation remain but they leave us with wonderful memories and gratitude for their efforts. We`ll be thinking of you and your family.

My condolences, Rick. WWII veterans such as your dad are pretty special people. My own dad will turn 93 next month, a wounded U.S. Navy vet of Guadalcanal and Munda. He never really talked about his experiences either.

My condolences, Rick.

Thanks Guy and Dave, Greatly appreciated. I just returned from the services yesterday. I must say the Military service although small was most impressive. My Brother John chose me for the Honor of receiving the Flag. If you have ever been in that situation it is certainly an emotional moment . I can't even imagine the effect that must have on family of those who gave their life for their country.
On a lighter note I am now way behind on the Many outstanding builds going on here. It will most likely take a few days to catch up and comment! Thanks again to ALL!
