Title: Tank 100 event in London
Post by: Dave W on September 16, 2016, 09:06:55 AM
Yesterday, September 15, marked the 100th anniversary of the first use of tanks in WW1 and the date was marked with a special Tank 100 event in London.

A replica Mk IV tank was displayed in Trafalgar Square. The tank was made for the Steven Spielberg movie "War Horse".

My son, Royce Wilson, a journalist with News Ltd in Brisbane, is in London reporting on the 100th anniversary of tanks events and he has provided some early photos for forum members.

There's some unusual diorama potential here!

Royce also spent a day at the recently refurbished Imperial War Museum photographing the WW1 items and his photos will be be made available for forum members' reference use.

Nice pictures. I am always reminded how small they are when you have people standing next to them. When there is nothing in a picture to give it scale, you always think the tank is so much bigger

They look a lot bigger when they're rolling at you or rolling over you.

Trust me.

Thanks very much David for posting these images and many thanks to Royce for taking the time to take the photos and allowing us to view them.
