Title: Eduard's Tripe//1:48
Post by: KrzysiekK on August 29, 2016, 07:34:44 PM
Hello,
So many great threads on Des forum, so I would not pay too much attention to the background issues. Tripehound or Tripe, initially powered by Clerget 9Z nine-cylinder rotary engine, became operational in early 1917.
For thread reason I have taken old Eduard no. equipped with PE part , which seems to be quite decent base for the built.
The interior was enhanced with self-made parts to resemble more likely the original.
Some pics from the assembly

Lovely work, K. The Tripehound is one of my favourite aircraft and I look forward to following a build in such capable hands.

Best wishes

Excellent work on the interior, K!  The instrument panel, in particular, is quite realistic.  Looking forward to following along.  Have you chosen a scheme yet?
Cheers,
Bud

Great start K, The triplane is one of my favourites, and you are right, the old Eduard kit is a decent base for a good looking Tripe.
Cheers,
Tony.

Of to a nice start so far . When fitting the outer struts you have to file the hole in the wings to match the angle (stagger ) of the strut , test often . Other then that , she builds up nicely .

Very nice start K. and one of my favourite aircraft. I have a second (1:32 Scale) one in the Stash in fact and like Bud wonder what scheme you have in mind for this one? BTW, the Smallstuff spark plugs are a very nice touch!
Cheers,
Lance

As always I`m late... Both the cockpit and the engine are looking very good. The PE in the Profi version of the kit isn` t that impressive at all, and I like your work much. Is it THIS engine or have you used some other one??

Hi,
No Filip it is not THAT engine:) this one is from the box.
Here comes the painting
I have implemented first layer just to emphasize the wood structure of the plane. It is not well visible but the cockpit top area was painted brown as the base
(http://rebe83.waw.pl/pub/krzysiek/warsztat/Sopwith Triplane/ST_15.JPG)
(http://rebe83.waw.pl/pub/krzysiek/warsztat/Sopwith Triplane/ST_16.JPG)
(http://rebe83.waw.pl/pub/krzysiek/warsztat/Sopwith Triplane/ST_17.JPG)
then put the second layer –little darker than previous once
(http://rebe83.waw.pl/pub/krzysiek/warsztat/Sopwith Triplane/ST_18.JPG)
(http://rebe83.waw.pl/pub/krzysiek/warsztat/Sopwith Triplane/ST_19.JPG)
at last used some filters to be more reminiscent of real effect
(http://rebe83.waw.pl/pub/krzysiek/warsztat/Sopwith Triplane/ST_22.JPG)
now have to handle the bottom
regards
K

Hi,
Being out with modelling for some time due my kids illnesses, which started together with beginning of school time, did some little steps forward specially with painting.
I put vallejo silver layer then used Uschi powders and decided to make more reminiscent to those peculiar rude cowling appearance visible on some pics available. I took the piece of fabric from old table cloth and did several finger pushes.

(http://rebe83.waw.pl/pub/krzysiek/warsztat/Sopwith Triplane/ST_26.JPG)
I am not quite sure this bottom part but it was done in the line with Eduard’s manual. Does anybody have any idea if the metal parts should be implemented till the end of bottom wings end, pls let me know.
(http://rebe83.waw.pl/pub/krzysiek/warsztat/Sopwith Triplane/ST_27.JPG)
did some shading on the wings as well

the engine is done

I suspect it ends well before the trailing edge of the wings.
Yes, all Tripes I have seen on the web have likewise. I thought that because of skis I could been little different
Let’s move on with this assembly. The undercarriage is done and positioned to fix the holes

Somebody asked for the skis, so finally I managed them

Hello,
Referring to wings assembly it was hard to keep the proper geometry. For top wings had to set up new holes for outer struts as Terri mentioned and the result is close to acceptable level. Unfortunately do not have pics from this fight
