Well, my friends, I've finally gotten around to taking more photos of this one, so here they are. One of the easiest builds in recent years.

Wow, Bud! I think you meant to say you MAKE it look easy! ;) ;)
Truly a lovely finish. You can't have too many Abatros-es (Like Spitfire-es)...

Thanks, Dan! Although I have built a couple Oeffags, this is my first German Albatros, and I'm beginning to realize how true your statement is. I'll be building a few more soon. (You see how I managed to construct my response to avoid the plural of Albatroses...Albatri...Albatrosen? Dammit!)
Cheers,
Bud

Love it bud.just great all around.

Beautiful Albatros Bud! As always your detailing and painting are top notch! The rigging is also outstanding as are the photos

Very nicely done Bud, great finish, outstanding wood effect, and flawless rigging, one to be very proud of!

The wood on the fuselage made me think that you had used real wood! The remainder of the model is just exceptional - if you build more Albatrossen like this one you will have a collection to be really envious of. Splendid modelling in every way.
Stephen.

Fantastic albatros, in all details.

What a lovely build, Bud! Absolutely convincing and great detail - only lots of experience can turn out a build like that! I really enjoyed the pictures... Regards, Marc

I love this Albatros, Bud! Very nice and great taste for absolutely fitting colors. Great!

Lovely build. I'm partial to those early machines and you've done them justice with this one.

Thank you, Marc! You're right. When I look back at my first WWI builds, about 8 years ago, they look so rough by comparison. I attribute my growth to all I learned from my fellow modelers here and on the 'drome.

Thanks, Michael! I do, too. My next Albatros will probably be a D.II, rather than a D.III or a D.V.

Great build Bud. Someday I'll do a wood finish as nice as yours (hopefully). Must have more Albatri. I wish WNW would re-issue their DV/DVa.

Thank you, Gabe! In all honesty, a chimp could do wood finish like this using Uschi decals. ;) By the way, there's a First Air War Symposium in Oakland on Sept 10. Can you make it? Bring some models. Here's an excerpt from the email Dana Lombardy sent me.
"The World War One Historical Association is holding its second annual First Air War Symposium on Saturday September 10 in the Forum Building at Laney College in Downtown Oakland. Public Hours planned are 10-4PM. Here's a short video on last year's event: http://bit.ly/29ZanAR
Our co-sponsor is the League of World War One Aviation Historians. Other aviation groups that we expect will be participating this year are Moffat Field Historical Society and Alameda Naval Aviation Museum.
We will have 2 presentations, a book & art print dealer, tabletop gaming, some models, exhibits and a beverage/snack vendor. Admission and parking are free. Event details are here and a poster is attached. Website: http://firstairwar.org/ "
Jack Herris will be doing one of the presentations and he will also have a table where he will be selling his books. Mike will also be there manning the OTF table with me. It'll be fun. Hope you can make it.
