Title: Bookshop in Paris?
Post by: rhwinter on July 10, 2016, 05:50:53 PM
Hi all,
next week I'll be in Paris for a few days. I plan to visit the Musée de l'Air at Le Bourget and would also be interested in visiting a good bookshop. Any recommendations would be welcome!
Thank you!
Richard

A pleasure to visit is 'Shakespeare & Co.'. But it's a general bookstore, not specialized in military history or aviation.

Merci, Borsos! Maybe there's a bookshop at the Musée de l'Air, but usually I am a little dissappointed by museum's shops...

A few years ago I was doing a concert in Paris and took the opportunity to go into one of the big bookstores, might have been FNAC, but I don't recall completely. I was looking for a French title - Les Avions d`un As - about Guynemer and I asked at the counter. The very helpful young lady searched her computer and found the listing but told me it was a specialist subject that few if any of the city bookstores would be likely to stock. She advised me that the bookstore at Le Bourget would be by far the best place to try.
I actually got the book via the  internet and haven't tried Le Musee de l`Air so can't vouch but I think it your best bet.

(I did however pick up some terrific compilation books of Premiere Guerre illustrated newspapers with lots of great pictures from the discount tables at FNAC. If indeed such it was!)

Thank you, macsporran, I didn't know FNAC and might have a look there, too!
