Im looking for an AEG G.IV in 1:72 scale . I have a partly finished Merlin one, (Yeah you read it right, a Merlin)
I am in need of struts and U/C parts, so it doesnt matter which kit, so much as if it has srtuts and U/C.

Found it. Ouch 55 euros is a bit steep for struts a d landi g gear. Guess its time to scratch and get glad, unless someone has one they would like to trade.

The only other 1:72 kit of that is a Classic Plane vacform, so you'd have to scratchbuild those parts anyway I'm afraid!

I mentioned recently that I met John Adams of Aeroclub at the Scottish Model Show and bought a few packs of his plastic struts.
Perhaps this would be your best option?
John does a pack of mixed cross-sections (they're all 30cm long) for about £3 and still had stock in April. His email is available via the Aeroclub site.

There's also a Sierra Scale vacukit and a Lüdemann resin kit, I have both somewhere in my basement. If you don't mind to wait two or three days, I'll have a look what I can do for you.

I would sure appreciate it. I'm sure we can work out a trade.
Here's a shot of where the Merlin AEG is at present. It was about the worst dog of a kit I have ever worked on. The fuselage halves were banana shaped and the wings and tailfeathers were slabs only vaguely similar to any drawings or photos. The white metal engines were half decent and i was able to dress them up nicely. The kit was so bad that i am determined to eventually finish the model, though I'm in no hurry and just trying to get as many ducks in a row as I can before I resume working on it.

OK, I know this isn't a build thread, and I hope you and Borsos work out a trade*, but what is wrong with your build so far? Looks fine to me.

Nothing wrong, i simply don't have struts or undercarriage parts any more. I could scratch them, but id rather adapt parts from a similar kit if i can find one. It was a job of work to get the kit this far and id like to finish it.

at first let me express my deepest respect what you did with the Merlin kit. This progress is awesome and everybody who knows the Merlin "kits" knows, how much work and sweat you spent bringing it to this high level. I never saw a Merlin kit built in that quality. Very fine!
I found both kits I mentioned before and saw that I once had started to build on the Sierra Scale AEG. I can show, what I have.
At first it's the struts arrangement of the vacukit, jigs in plastic for scratchbuilding these out of the struts material:

This kit is much much better than the other ones, but my copy is already sold, so sorry, here I can't help.
What I can do is to send you the parts of the other kits if you like. If I were you, I'd scratch the struts using the plastic material and the jig (and the scale plans of the Windsock datafile). I don't think that I would use resin struts in any scale, I would even replace the Chorozy struts. If you need some wheels, I can have another look what I have in my stash. The choice is yours, I hope that could help you finishing this great little AEG.

Can you put that vac piece with the strut templates on a copier and run a copy. That would give me full size images from which to work.
I saved the HD from my computer when it died and hope to soon get an external case for it. If i can access it i may find some of the pics i took during the build. Merlin kits arent much good for models, but they sure build character if you take one on. Definitely an acquired taste.

There's a product from plastruct that is butyl plastic encapsulating mild steel rod.it is bendable and you can sand the strut profile out of the plastic leaving steel tab exposed at the ends.you can also bend a v to make landing gear

You're still waiting - I am very sorry, but I am waiting too: I am waiting for amazon to deliver my new scanner (that I needed anyway after my old one broke down). I'm not forgetting you!

Finally Amazon delivered my new scanner and I even got it working :).
The struts are scanned, but the .pdf. is too large to post it here. When you give me your Email adress, I'll send them.
