Title: Albatros D I, Jasta 6, Fall 1916 (Roden 1:32)
Post by: Borsos on June 23, 2016, 08:42:54 AM
Hello,
I recently finished her. The Pilot is an Elan13 Figure, painted with acrylics and oils. I will add some dead leaves to increase the autumn-feeling. I really enjoyed this build.

Wow - that is one beautiful model. I absolutely love the overall presentation of the aircraft and figure, and it was good to follow the build as you progressed through it. Congratulations on a masterpiece!
Cheers,
Gary

A superb model beautifully painted and detailed, you did a great job with the rigging, the addition of the figure is the finishing touch, well done.

Very very nice. I assume the darkish photos are supposed to enhance the "autumn feeling"?

One fine example of proper modelling. shows perfectly what a beautiful job you can do with a Roden kit with some time and patience.

I wish Roden could see this, perhaps send them some images? Who knows it might reignite their interest in producing something new in 1/32nd.

As I said in your "Under Construction" Thread, Borsos, this is simply an outstanding Model. I agree with Keith, a fine example of what can result from a bit of extra effort with Roden's products. Hopefully they will get back into the game soon. Well done nose to tail!

Lance

I know I'm repeating myself, but it bears repeating: This is the best looking Albatros I've ever seen!  And the vignette is magnificent!  Your pilot figure is truly a work of art and that base is very convincing.  Which grass mat did you use, Andreas?
Cheers,
Bud

I agree with all of the above - that is a simply super model and the figure really adds to the whole. The atmosphere of autumn has been captured well too - all round a first class example of modelling.

 Borsos,
Absolutely Awesome project my old friend. Truly impressive works inhabit your bench. As Bud said she's the finest Roden Albatros I've seen period.
IMHO Roden isn't a runner up with WNW but rather a full equal in the hands of a Master Level Modeler. I for one would love to see more Roden WWI projects grace this forum. Well Done my old friend,Well Done.
Highest Regards,
Gregory Jouette

Thank you all for your kind comments. They are really appreciated!

Bud, as it is about 10 years since I built my last groundwork for a diorama (plaster, white glue, static grass... everywhere... on clothing, in the nose... :( ) this time I wanted to keep it as simple as possible. I followed the hint of stefan and visited the reality in scale homepage. there are several mats sold from modelscene scenery. I took this one: http://www.realityinscale.com/epages/61537336.sf/en_US/?ObjectPath=/Shops/61537336/Products/F518
It leaves some uncovered spots that I covered with Vallejo Mud.
Best wishes

Thank you very much Monty!

I promised to add more dead leaves for the autumn feeling - here they are. Every single leave is part of an actual leave from my garden.

Those dead leaves where a very clever idea, as they enhance that feeling of a chilly autumn day a lot. Now the scarf of your pilot's figure suddenly makes much more sense.

Borsos,
Beautiful! The base really brings it all together, and the "real" leaves are a brilliant touch. My compliments again on a magnificent Build!

Borsos

This is one of those models that sets you back on your heels and makes you say, "Boy, I've got a lot to learn".

All the elements blend. It isn't a model on a base with a figure, it comes cross as a single piece. That's not easy, but you nailed it perfectly. Give yourself some well deserved pats on the back.

Manni, yes, it's the Green Stuff leave puncher. Works absolutely fine. All the leaves took me about 10 minutes to punch.
All the best
