Hello,
I have picked sth easy, well.. easier than previous ones. The shape of SSW is so convincing that it was rather quick decision to go for it.
In general it would be OOB. I am just going to change the engine for Karaya and use Aviattic decals. There are few nice threads on this forum referring to SSW, so I am going to keep an eye on them

Gorgeous interior K. It could easily be taken for 1/32nd scale!

That is some beautiful work, K! I wish my modelling was so neat! Well done! Marc.
-
Amazing detail, K. and especially for the smaller scale. The "SSW" is one of my favorite WWI aircraft, I am enjoying this Build already. Nice work!
Cheers,
Lance

Beautiful work on the interior, your choice of colours is excellent.

Hi,
Hot period and 29C in room has not encouraged for modelling..but finally some progress done
The fuselage is ready. I have painted base layer and put the oil on them. Nest step would be the thin layers of final blue.

I have put 4 layer of blue, which resulted in green tone at the begging slowly coming to blue. Now have to focus on the tail and B&W stripes, which will not be easy thing to perform

Then started to work with Aviattic decals. You will definitely have the problems in applying if you skip the manual! I have ordered faded one and you can see the results

Krzysiu I also did not read the instructions carefully, and I had a big problem with applying the AVIATTICS decal . The surprise for me was a long time soaking in water.

Fantastic work k

Looking great K.

Thanks, but i did a mistake with shading the ribs. It should not be visible as the result. Thanks Richard for the hint. I will enhance the final look little bit

Krzysiek,
Outstanding project my old friend. Love the interior but I'm most impressed with your lozenge application. Keep up the excellence.

Hello Krzysiek,
very nice interieur and build.
As you have said, I am also not 100% happy with your preshading of the wings. Maybe you can cut rib tapes from lozenge decal with white back and place them over the dark ribs?
Manni
-
Hi,
what is the exact point you don't like on the wings? Is it the grainy, speckled appearance? Too many color and to less diluted I would guess. But I can't see such a huge problem here. If I were you, I'd spray some thin coats of very heavily diluted buff color over the wings. That would intense the weathered look (ok, no long service times for the SSW D III, but well...) and reduce the shading effect a little.
Anyway I love your built, this is a very fine D III !

Very nice progress on the SSW. The cockpit is looking great, but I agree with you when it comes to the wing lozenge. What happened? And what is Richard`s hint?
-
Hi,
Richard and Borsos state same solution to the issue so I will follow. the decals were varnished already and crosses implemented, so I would go for more weathering as used in field. Now we have such situation, I will let you know final result

Hi,
The engines: no comment (left – set from the kit, Karaya on right. The difference in diameter approx. 0,2 mm). Under those circumstances decided to resize Karaya little bit. Here we have the results

Nice work on the engine diameter change K!
RAGIII

I simply can`t understand why you`ve decided to use the Karaya`s engine instead of the original one since it`s sooo much better :o :o ;) ;) ;)
When I first opened the box I couldn`t believe my eyes - is it really an engine from Eduard`s model? it looks worse than those from old Aurrora kits...
Good job!
-
Good call, K! The Karaya engine is so much better.
Cheers,
Bud
-
good work on the engine.
-
Hello,
The engine was placed on spot and this part is done just waiting for final assembly. I have also anchored the rigging and can finally present the prop, which was done couple of week ago and left for drying. Wondering if should enhance the tone little bit to get it darker?

The engine and the prop are looking very good. I would varnish the prop with a mist of clear orange. Keep up the good work!
-
The prop is wonderful as is your engine. respect for managing these laminated wood tones so fine on a four bladed prop!
Borsos

K.
All very nicely done. I agree with Filip, a light coat of clear orange to darken up the prop would be good, and should also accentuate the contrast between the dark and light laminate layers.
Cheers,
Lance
