Hi I'm Bernie or Bern to my friends,
I've been building models on and off for well over 35 years... who said "practice makes perfect" I still get it wrong as often as I get it right!
I go through phases of building pretty much anything so over the years have made everything from sci-fi to large scale cars including a good few masters and a lot of resin casting but my first love has always been aircraft and the WW.1 period in particular. I've always thought the planes of that era look so graceful in a frighteningly fragile way ???
1/72 is my preferred scale and apart from the cars and a brief spell of 1/35 AFV I pretty much stick to it for everything else. I have to admit I find rigging a chore but hopefully joining this forum and seeing all the stunning builds here will inspire me to dig out all those long buried bi and triplanes from my stash and finally finish some of them off.
Cheers

Thanks for the warm welcome gents it's much appreciated.
Looking around the site there are some beautiful models and clearly some very talented modellers here... now fully inspired I think I'll be spending the afternoon digging through the many boxes of sad, neglected, unfinished WW.1 projects in my loft and finally start to finish them off, hopefully to a standard worth displaying.
Cheers

Thanks guys, I've already found a good deal of information here and possibly more importantly inspiration to crack on with some of those "wings held on with string" projects!
Unusually for the UK it was pretty hot here on Sunday so my normally enjoyable nostalgia trip into the loft was a little sticky and uncomfortable however I think I've located two prime candidates... an old Revell Camel with a bit of a twist (no it hasn't warped from the heat in my loft!) and a Roden Albatros W.4. There are four unstarted Roden Felixstowes up there too but I thought it would be best to start small.
I'm off my hol's next week so will post some pictures as soon as I'm back.
