June is hard on us, and the question is: What WNW kit will you buy to "see out" free shipping? I'm thinking on an AEG, and either a Pfalz, or an(other) Albie. A J1 might be a choice, and maybe a postwar Bristol.
Thoughts?

none.

None for me either.

I'm a none one too. I've far too much to be getting on with already, being skint helps ones discipline though... As tempting as another D.Va (OAW) may be I'm going to be strong and say no. No doubt I'll wish I had later... LOL ;D

I don't yet have the Albatros B.II nor the AEG so it would make sense to get those.
A couple of duplicates of other kits are on the 'wish list' but as the bill for the two above is large enough anything else will likely be deferred.
Frankly due to a relative drought of new releases from WnW over the last year or so there's nothing more I'd want from them.

..... I've blown this year's budget already anyway.
Yep, me too, I recently grabbed a Gotha from Hannants before their prices rise in line with the new WNW's jump and then succumbed to the lure of the Felixstowe Duellist at £120 off (Hannants) list price off Ebay. The only one I'd really like is OOP (Sopwith Triplane) and I'm unlikely to buy one at current secondary market prices - besides which I still have to get to grips with the pleasure of building one of the stash accumulated so far!

I took csre of my only real want in the form of another Pfalz DIIIa a while back. So None for me in addition.... unless the Camel comes out prior to the shipping costs/new distribution network.

I've got all I want too. I may be tempted to buy up a few kits anyway just to build in some value for trading kits with others in case my plans change in the future. Might need something on hand to trade or swap for a R.E. 8 down the road.
-
All good points, and it may be more to my advantage to try to trade for some kits I want. The premise of S.A.B.L.E is assumed.
-
After some deliberation I decided to order a Biff. Having built 14 WNW kits and with 2 more in the stash, this one was the last to draw my interest. And they will need to release something more than Camel to attract me again.
-
At those prices, even with free shipping, I'll buy no more. When shipping charges start, I fear for WNW's future as a profitable company.
-
I agree with the sentiments here. I feel the 'puff' has now gone out of Wingnuts and the price rises and postage costs could be their downfall.
Most of us have good stashes of WnW kits and what's left on their shelves is not wanted ( or affordable) so why would we pay more for them from June? What they need is a kit sale to generate customer interest!
The Camel will doubtless excite the masses but they really need to have some big ( affordable) surprises too to re-ignite customer interest unless their policy is to become a high end collectible-price model business.

dont want a camel or any other plain jane pc-10 brit late fighter.if they release a be2 or something else interesting i will consider buying. the only one i really want and dont have is the albatros b.ii and i cant afford $130 atm so later i will have to pay shipping which i cant see being more than another $15. they will have to release something with crosses or re-release some of the sold out ones with crosses to get me interested most likely.really hoping they do a berg d.1 or phonix d.1 or d.11. i bet if they do an oeffag albatros d.iii they will see some sales. or pop out some more d.vii fokkers. those sold out way to quick.

I have to confess to having just ordered another Pfalz DIIIa. It seems i am in love with that type...

None for me for the moment. I'll wait for a Camel and a BE 2. In the meantime, there's lots of interesting things coming out and so many projects to keep me going.
Best wishes

I am of exactly the same mind on this as Nigel, same intentions and subjects! I do agree with Dave and Scott, a real marketing "coup" would lift Wingnut Wings (or more their customer base) out of the doldrums, something like the Ford Motors unveiling of the Mustang in 1963! Scott's mention of the Oeffag Albatross might be just the ticket, a much desired Kit that could to a large degree draw from the existing molds of their DV / DVa releases with lots of economies yet provide that unique and much needed stimulus to their market. It would, IMHO, literally fly off the shelves. This entire premise, of course, based on the assumption that they are hurting, who really knows other then Wingnuts??
Cheers,
Lance

Just decided to take the plunge and order a Felixstowe. It still says Free Shipping on their website so we shall see if they honor that.
Best regards,

They stated free shipping will end in mid June so it will be free until then .unless they extend it once again.you know it seems to me it would have been smarter to do the increase not so close to the free shipping ending.it makes it like a two fisted bird in your face kinda. Or made the increase slightly larger and keep free shipping. Don't know. Most of their kits are just out of my price range comfort

For every WNW kit I ordered in New Zealand I paid about 20€ custom fees. And I waited 4 to 6 weeks every time until I got it. Should they actually start to send from an European delivery center now I neither will have to pay custom fees nor have to wait that long. And I cross my fingers that they won't take 20€ for a parcel sent within Europe. So maybe things even get better? I want to think positively :)

You will still have to pay VAT, but now with added delivery charges. It'll be quicker, no doubt, but certainly will work out more expensive.

Yes, with the free shipping window closing and more kits bound to sell out I got a cumulative attack of the willies and ordered the DH.2, E-III (Late), Sopwith Pup RFC, and Bristol F.2B- and there's two more kits that I may order if I can cut some corners on more trivial matters like grocery expenses, etc.

OK – so I caved.
The news this morning on how the VAT and shipping might affect prices, made me finally push the button on the SE5a It's been on my 'maybe' list for quite a while now – and it is the only one of the original four I don't have. And here I thoght I was going to stay strong...
Oh well, I got the Windsock book in the bargain. Fingres crossed Swedish customs don't get wind of it.

In future, you should pay the UK VAT rate of 20%, because that's where the kits are being sent from. So you should save compared to the Swedish rate.

A fear of a huge increase in price has made me go and buy a number of kits since the end of free shipping was announce. I ordered another Albatros OAW, Sopwith Pup, Pfalz IIIa. Also a Snipe (late), and the Junkers JI. I was always on the fence about getting the Junkers, but thanks to the Baron's topic, I decided to get it. Especially when I saw the info he had for the lozenge, now I want to make that version. ;D
Thankfully I got a lot of overtime this week to help me pay for all this. No more Wingnut kits until something new catches my interest, and hopefully nothing out till Christmas.
