Great news for WW1 modellers, the Copper State Models' new-tool 1/48th Sopwith Dolphin kit is on sale and it's a real gem!
I received a Premium Edition kit today and it will be the subject of a detailed review on this Forum very soon.
In the meantime I want to applaud Edgar Liepinsh and the CSM team for a world-class product which can best be summarised as Wingnut Wings quality in 1/48th scale.
The kit is available in standard and premium editions through the Copper State Models' website. CSM also runs a shop here on the forum.
I believe Copper State are setting a new world standard in 1/48th scale WW1 aircraft models.

Mine's on the way, Dave, and I'm really excited about it. Looking forward to your review. Have you settled on a scheme, yet?

Mine turned up yesterday and I have to agree with David, it is a brilliant kit, I'm looking forward to reading David's review and I'm also hoping to see many builds of this kit on the forum.

I have this kit in my hands for some time now. There are pros and cons, as usual. But before I give my detailed opinion I would like to hear the others opinion first, after all 1/48 is not my scale.

Mine is on the way also. Does anyone know if Rowan/Pheon's Dolphin decals will be compatible with the Copper State kit?

They should. None of the options appear to go right to the edge of any components.

Thanks Bud. I will have to take a look at Pheon's decal sheet and see if it's still available.

This new kid is very exciting. It is extremely well done and well thought-out the more I look at it the more I am tempted to start it immediately

That is one beautiful model. Dave Wilson hit the nail on the head when he wrote that it was akin to Wingnut Wings in 1/48th. I haven't resumed building yet (still configuring the hobby room after a recent move), but when I opened the box and saw what was inside through my Optivisor the only word that came to mind was "Zoinks!" Congratulations, CSM, on this magnificent Dolphin!

Congratulations to Oleg for building this superb model, he has done a brilliant job and congratulations to Edgar for producing such a wonderful kit.

Mine showed up yesterday and it left me speechless. The plastic parts, the PE, resin and instructions are all extremely high quality. I think I'll have to get another one in the future. I really look forward to CSM new 1/48 aircraft releases!
