Edgar I have seen cauldron G.III floatplane but never G.IV. personally I like the G.III better.I like the single engine configuration as well as the fact that it seem to be designed like a pusher but it is a tractor type.there are also many variants of different engine types and pre and post war examples from many country's.

Hello Edgar, here are the first informations...
in this long discution about the caudron planes
http://pages14-18.mesdiscussions.net/pages1418/aviation-1914-1918/types-types-caudron-sujet_1451_1.htm (http://pages14-18.mesdiscussions.net/pages1418/aviation-1914-1918/types-types-caudron-sujet_1451_1.htm)
it is said that the first caudron G4 floatplane seems to appears in Cazaux (near Bordeaux in the atlantic side) in autun of 1916.
it was used to tow targets.
in 1917 french army commanded caudron G4 floatplane.
six were used in Saint- Raphaël CAM (camp aérien maritime) in the mediteranean sea.

We know three serials: 2239, 4071 et 5049 and we don't now what for they were used
here is this info's link:
http://pages14-18.mesdiscussions.net/pages1418/aviation-1914-1918/caudron-g4-hydravion-sujet_3092_1.htm (http://pages14-18.mesdiscussions.net/pages1418/aviation-1914-1918/caudron-g4-hydravion-sujet_3092_1.htm)
in this link about the birth of the aéro navale, we find more information:
http://www.ffaa.net/naval_stations/st-raphael/st-raphael_fr.htm (http://www.ffaa.net/naval_stations/st-raphael/st-raphael_fr.htm)
- in september of 1916 floats (?) were adapted to some caudron.
- in july of 1917 there is in Saint Raphaël CAM, 24 FBA, 18 DD, 8 Tellier and 4 Caudron G4.
i find in this link a caudron G3 (I think) floatplane picture:

to know more about that, the man you have to contact is withour any doubt the great specialist of the aéronavale, Lucien Morareau.
he wrote this book:
Les Aéronefs de l'Aviation Maritime 1910-1942, par Lucien Morareau
