Does anyone know of a supplier of bespoke brass name plates for models please?
I have tried the obvious searches online but I am getting some pretty exhorbitant quotes for a simple brass plate size 10cm x 5cm is in the region of £67 plus 20% VAT .... ($US95 plus 20%).
Thanks if anyone can recommend someone who can do this sort of work and at a sensible price!

Dave,
Have you tried any run of the mill engraving shops, the type that do trophies for sports awards and engraving on special gifts? Up until he retired my local Trophy and Engraving Shop fellow was doing brass and enamel nameplates for me at approx. $12 Canadian for a 10X8 CM plate. Your quote seems very high to me.

Dave,
I'm thinking of producing these in the near future.
I have the machine to do it, but the software that runs it is still in beta stage. When the moon and stars align I will return!!!
In the mean time... good luck with your search ;)

Hi Dave,
I've started collecting medals, and I've had them framed and named.. I used a UK company called 'Name It'
http://www.nameitplates.co.uk/
Very good quality and reasonable too with loads of options...
Hope that helps..

Thanks Lance, Bob and Guy for your kind responses.
Lance that plate in the photograph looks superb and at very reasonable cost too.
Bob, please let me know if you get up and running with your machine...I might have some projects for you😉
Guy, I tried nameit a while ago and the plates they make are really nice.
I really want a specific font and they were not able to offer beyond the typefaces on their website.
The quote I had from a certain other model company in London was astronomical and no-one could justify the equivalent cost of a Wingnuts Kit on just the nameplate alone!

Dave,
The fellow who did my plates retired and his business is long gone from here. The trophy/gift shop thing might be worth pursuing as he seemed to have an endless selection of fonts available. All of his work was entered onto a computer, which sort of "drove" his engraving machines; the selection seemed endless. I just had to provide size, colour, and choose a font, a few days later it was ready. Sorry I can't provide more detail, I was just happy to have access to the product at such a token price. I intend to pursue similar shops in the "Big City" as the trade obviously utilises software to produce their products. Presently I'm 3-4 models behind as the local version closed shop about 2 years ago.
Good luck with your search!
Cheers,
Lance
Bob,
Please keep us updated, given I'm a "mostly by mail" customer due to my location it might prove just as efficient to expand my dealings with the von Plate and Buckle Emporium of fine model wares.......besides the satisfaction of supporting the entrepreneurs in our Membership!

Hi Bob ,
PM sent,

Thanks Lance,
I would have thought there would be a ready market for this sort of thing?
So far my enquiries using online companies have proven too expensive or else they will only do minimum orders of 100,000 or whatever.
I'll keep you posted as to what ,if anything happens...
