I built this model as a tribute to our dear friend, Przemo, for all he taught me about modeling over the years. There are several inaccuracies, but I won't point them out. Some of them must make Przemo's eyes hurt and for that I'm truly sorry.
So, here she is, done at last. Here's the build log http://forum.ww1aircraftmodels.com/index.php?topic=6393.new;topicseen#new

Thanks for looking in, my friends, and thank you, Przemo, for the inspiration.
Cheers,
Bud

She is absolutely gorgeous Bud, I'm sure Przemol will be proud of you.

Very nice!!

Bud, I'm truly delighted since I live in Wielkopolska (Great Poland) too - not far from Przemo. I work in a small village, where the first commander of Powstanie Wielkopolskie (the Great Poland Uprising) Stanisław Taczak was born. It is the only uprising in Polish history that was successful and the people of Wielkopolska (I will use the original name) were able to reclaim the whole region from Germans. In the process the Ławica airfield in Poznań was captured along with many German planes among which I believe your DFW. I' ll take a picture of the small museum located in Mieszków that which was started by a group of enthusiasts to commemorate the uprising and post it here if you are interested.
The model is absolutely brilliant - uplease to your usual extremely high standards. Congratulations!
-
Excellent work with very impressive result, Bud, congratulations!
Cheers

Greetings Bud
Clearly it is not my place to speak on behalf of Prze, but I have no doubt that when he views your success he will feel pride in his "apprentice". In fact, I hope he takes you to task for your excessive humility! ;D
Personally (and I can speak for me ;) ) I consider your results to be absolutely outstanding!
So toughen up and build us another, please. ;D
-
An absolute gem Bud and Prze should be very impressed! Your subtle shading, fine detail, and great finish all stand out "in spades", She's a real winner!
Cheers,
Lance

That is absolutely gorgeous, Bud. I'm sure Prez will be more than pleased with your tribute, I can see no reason for anyone not to be!

Well Amigo, what can I say. Just outstanding Modeling in My opinion and I agree with all of the others that Przemo will be very pleased with your results! As always your build was both educational and a Joy to follow!

Dear me, Bud. Thank you very much but honestly, I do not feel I have done anything to earn such a tribute. I feel embarassed, as in the matter of fact it is me, who has been learning a lot (if not everything) about WW1 aviation modelling in three subsequent forums from many fellow modellers, you included, for almost 10 years now!
Anyway, I am extremely glad, that you have finished this model to such a spectacular result. Let it be a tribute to General Anders who flew it in the observer cockpit in the winter 1919/1920 and also those men who at the beginning of the uprising in Wielkopolska captured Ławica air station from Germans with many aircraft, this DFW included (as was correctly mentioned by Filip).

Hey Bud,
Truly a nice build, will you bring her up to Silverwings on Saturday?
Gabe

Beautifully built and finished, Bud.

Wonderful job, Bud! If there are inaccuracies in there somewhere,
they are lost on me. All I see is an absolute gem, my friend!
Cheers,
Ernie :)

I think Prez's and all the above comments have said it All Amigo, and that Gaspatch parabellum sure looks good too ! Look forward to when I can see it .

What can I add at this late stage? Nothing that has not already been written I fear. It is a gorgeous model and I for one would have been proud to have completed it.
-
Bud,
My old friend she's absolutely drop dead gorgeous. As always your Master Level skills and craftsmanship shine brightly. Well Done and congratulations.
Highest Regards,
Gregory Jouette

Thank you all for your kind remarks, my friends. I'm flattered.

I would love that, Filip!

Thanks, Przemo! We've all come a long way since those days on the 'drome, haven't we.
Hey Bud,

Gabe
I took her to Silver Wings, but you weren't there! I missed you, buddy. This one didn't place. I took first with my Rumpler C.I, second with my Macchi M-5 and Bob Zelnick(sp?) took third with his 1/72 scale Oeffag D.III.
Awesome build, Bud! One more in my stash that I'm inspired to build by admiring your work.
Cheers,
Gary
Well, haul it out and build it, Gary! I'd love to see it.
Again, thanks to you all.
Cheers,
Bud

That is so much true, Bud!
BTW, sincere congratulations on the trophies you have won.

What a nice Tribute. I like it a lot.

Had you not said, I would have assumed this was the work of Prez at first glance, Bud!
Excellent work as usual and I for one, cannot see any flaws.

Best regards,
Sasho
Thank you, Sasho! But since you mentioned inaccuracies, I will list just a few:
1) The port side national insignia are reversed.
2) The cowling access ports are all wrong and I didn't bother to correct them.
3) No DFW emblem on the cowling.
4) ...and so on, and so forth. Etc., etc., etc.
Cheers,
Bud
-
Thank you, Stefan, Dave and Przemo! You are all very generous!
Lovely Bud - and good to see these Polish stories being told...
Best wishes, Richard
Thanks so much, Richard. You'll be seeing more Polish stories once that lovely Ansaldo is released!
Cheers,
Bud
