Title: Revell (Eduard) Albatross DV Udet
Post by: Monty on February 18, 2016, 04:41:30 AM
This was a stress-free build, recently completed, and pretty much out the box, decals included! The kit is a fairly accurate DVa and needs backdating, easy enough with a few aileron control horns but I neglected to remove the control wire details on the lower wing... I do like the streamers, but can't imagine what they did to the handling! Udet said they were the best means of in-flight identification...

Well, it was fun and Thanks to Revell for making this one available in the Colonies - at a great price! Udet went on record saying this aircraft was his "Grey Mouse", so I chose a more grey tone for the general colour...

Regards,

Marc

A lovely model and I really like the shade of grey that you have chosen. That is beautifully presented too - good all round modelling.

Udet was a truly gifted pilot and I am sure that he hardly noticed the streamers…. I have seen film of him landing a biplane in the 1930's and he really did drift in sideways almost until his wheels touched the ground - amazing pilot.

Stephen.

Wow, Marc. It was great to see this one and the black D.VII in flesh down there in Cape Town. It is great now to see them here in the forum. And I am looking forward to see more WW1 subjects from your workdesk.

Very nicely done Marc, the overall finish on this model is excellent, the grey colour makes for a very attractive model.

That`s a real little gem, Marc, and not a commonly seen scheme. Very nicely done and clean work, a real eye catcher!
