I have been spending a bit of time looking over all the great builds on this forum and thought I'd add my WIP to the mix.
This is a rescue from the shelf of doom. I started the old Revell 1/28 scale kit about six years ago and stalled at about the halfway point. Just after the new year I was cleaning up the shop and thought I'd have another go. Here's where I'm at now;
Overview

Still working to get the rest of the main parts together and then a little weathering and she'll be finished.
Thanks for looking in.

Welcome aboard Dan! Nice work on this classic kit.

I am so pleased you decided to resurrect this classic kit, it is well worth finishing and what you have achieved so for is excellent, looking forward to seeing you complete this build.

Dan,
Welcome aboard my old friend. It's great to you're working on this Classic again. Looking forward to following along.
Highest Regards,
Gregory Jouette
PS: I'd love to see you move your 1/28 scale SPAD XIII here too.

Very nice, Dan! I like your choice of livery. welcome aboard!

Welcome to the Forum Dan. It's amazing how well this Kit has stood up over the years, and I'd venture a very large number of us have one or two of these in our modelling "careers"! Nice work, the "streaking" looks great and the weathering already adds to the model.
Cheers,
Lance

Very good work and beautiful painting about these bad kit.

Glad to see another 1/28 underway. And it is not a 1957 kit that holds up well with a little work !
Looks like the new CSM 1/28 Oberursel-right ?

Very nicely done to date. Your streaking looks excellent!

Bo, Des, George & RAGIII- Thank you all for your kind welcomes. This forum has a very friendly atmosphere which is wonderful to see. I have been very much enjoying the great builds here.
Gregory - Well met Sir. Good to see you are doing well. Thank you, and interestingly I was moving the SPAD to a new case last night and thinking of improvements to make on her ;) Most notably finishing her rigging!
Lance - I do love these old basic Revell kits, if you don't look too hard at em :D . I am constantly amazed at how well they still go together and can still be picked up from the shop for not too much cash.
Martin - Thank you Sir as your build was inspirational for me to get back to work on mine.
Ed - Thank you - But no resin engine for this old girl just added plastic and putty.

Did a basic cockpit too, but years ago I wasn't too flash with a paintbrush…

I hope to get at that top wing this afternoon but the wife's list of things to do is quite long.
Thanks again for all the encouragement.

Just found this - I cannot understand why you stopped at mid point - this is a first class model of an old but basically good kit. You are turning it into a little gem. The engine is truly impressive and shows what a little addition can do. Many congratulations - especially on the paintwork.
Stephen.
-
Stephen - Thank you for your encouraging comments, I'm glad you like the old girl.
The main reason this build sat on the SOD for so long is the very idea of painting all the markings just seemed too much work and at the time too risky to attempt. Since that time I have painted a lot more kits and done full markings with mask sets so I was pretty sure I could pull it off now. I hope to keep my nerve and get all the bits on straight and clean so I can finish this one nicely.
Progress;
I spent a bit of time today building a fixture to hold the aircraft up high enough so I could glue on the upper wing.

It made it a lot easier than bending down to do the glueing at bench level.
Struggled to get the upper wing on straight and true. I am now going to leave it alone as I'll only wreck it if I keep messing with it.

Next up is some simple rigging and the undercarriage :D
Thanks for dropping in for a look.

Thank you all for your welcoming comments. I am very happy that you all like what I am doing. Very glad I dusted her off and got back to work on her.
Progress:
Wheels on and a start on the rigging. I used the Pymes elastic for the first time. Kinda liked it. it is more constant in size than the EZ Line I have used before.

Looking excellent Dan, the streaking and the black and white make for a very attractive looking aeroplane.

Dan,
Outstanding Fokker my old friend. I'll gladly repeat the praise Des offered on your streaking and stripes too. As always looking forwards to the next outstanding update.

Gentlemen - I must thank you for your very kind comments and general welcome. I am very happy that my little triplane has meet such a warm reception. I am very much enjoying reading the many excellent WIP post and learning so much about how to build more accurate and beautiful models. I hope that I can add a tiny bit to this wonderful assembly.
Progress;
Still working on the rigging a little :( . I'm finding my old eyes are getting worse and worse and I struggle even with good magnification. Threading the line through those tiny bits of tube is a bear. I don't know how many I have launched into outer space and lost. Thankfully the Fokker has very little rigging to do.
Guns in and the top wing got a shot of flat clear to bed in all the weathering and such.
Belly and wheels got a dirty up with chalks and splatters.
Getting close to finishing. I have to get the prop finished and some more weathering( And the wing tip skids!) I was going to scratch up a foot step but may just give it a pass as I don't want to stuff up this close to the finish line.
I hope this is looking okay as for once I am pretty happy with my results. I'm so glad I dusted her off and had a go to finish her.
Thanks for looking in.

Your results are very nice on this one! The overall effect of the streaking and weathering is quite pleasing to the eye!

Thanks RAGIII - She came out much better than I had hoped for. I'm getting kind of jazzed up to attempt to finish my 1/28 scale Camel.
I did a bit more work on the tail and started to fix up a base for the finished kit. ( Sorry about the garish background, sometimes experiments don't work out.)

Done, finished, kaput!
Well…
I have had a bad case of the yips lately, you know, dropping and breaking things for no apparent reason, spilling paint and getting superglue stains everywhere :( .
So I am stopping this build while I'm ahead. Listen, once you've broken off the rudder three times you have to think a higher power is telling you something.
I hear the Tiki gods of modelling and they say walk away Renee ;)
Maybe one day I come back and put on the tip skids and the last of the control lines but for now she will go safely into the display case.
I'm pretty happy with the way she turned out after sitting so very long in pieces on the shelf of doom.
More pics in the RFI section.
A big thanks to everyone for their encouragement to finish this one.
