Title: Looking for a source or substitute for 1:32 Aeroclub vintage instruments
Post by: Isitwindyyet on February 06, 2016, 03:01:19 AM
I've run out, and need more.  Any ideas or where I can get some or a suitable substitute?  I had heard that Aero Scale was going take over this product and start selling it, but that was a few years ago now.

Airscale make PE instrument bezels but unfortunately not for WW1 aircraft.

HGW make a set of WW1 instrument bezels  http://hgwmodels.cz/en/132-scale/183-wwi-instrument-bezels-pe-set-132-132030.html which may suit your needs, they are not as comprehensive as the Aeroclub bezel set though.

I think you can still get them from Aeroclub.  Here's an email John sent to me when I asked him about them back in March of last year.

Dear Sir

The 1/32 scale Instrument bezels  (approximately 100 bezels per sheet) are available at £4.50 GBP each, with a posted price to the USA of £8.75 GBP inclusive of Paypal and packaging. The postage/Paypal charges will not change for up to three sets.

The Paypal account is    [email protected]

Kind regards

John Adams,  Aeroclub Models.

I was after the Aeroclub instrument bezel PE set some time ago. Apparently one of the partners in Aeroclub still makes & sells it but via postal & email orders - not via a website. A web search should find his contact details - I think I found them on the Brit Modeller website.

Aeroclub also had a stand at the Telford show selling the much more limited range of products they now produce - happily including the instrument bezel set you want. I got 3 sets from Telford last autumn.

Regards
Russell

Edit - exactly as Paperquest wrote above - as I was posting my bit.

Well thanks for the info.  The aeroclub website doesn't say anything about it being available.

Well thanks for the info.  The aeroclub website doesn't say anything about it being available.

They were very much available in November but the way to buy is as mentioned by Paperquest (or in person at Telford).

I wrote to John at Aeroclub and received a reply today.

Please be assured that John is still making and selling his bezels and other products. His operation is now low key and he only sells on demand, he does not advertise anywhere except on my website. It is all untrue that someone else has taken over making his bezels. Anyone wanting his bezels or any of his products need to send him an email at this address  [email protected]
Sometimes John may be a bit slow at answering your email but he will eventually answer. He did say that the last two emails he received he answered but he did not receive any further correspondence.

That's great news, I've used John's product for years and it's nice to know they are still available.
Thanks for tracking this down, Des.
Cheers,
Lance

Thank you Des and Paperquest for your info.

I emailed John my order a couple of days ago and received a reply yesterday morning.

I have just sent payment as per his instructions. Very prompt service.

Thanks John.  :)

John may be a little slow to respond to emails but he does eventually get back to you, for some reason most of my emails to him go into his spam box.

My Aeroclub bezels arrived yesterday.  :)

Only 10 days from placement of order to receipt of goodies in Oz.

Excellent product and excellent service from John at Aeroclub.

Thanks again John.
