Hello!
I begin this topic, but I already know it will be very spread out over time!
I bought two Vacuform. The Phönix C.I and UFAG C.I.
That was a few years ago. A few months ago, I bought the two WD on these topics.
I know SIERRA are considered as very good for forms.
But comparing with the plans, I am very pessimistic.
To continue with the series of Phönix, I started the CI.

The fuselage is too short. The engine hood is too approximate. The wings are not bad, unlike UFAG, unusable ....
I decided to redo the wings anyway :-X.

And tail. These are drafts. I refined half a wing this time.

I hesitate a lot for the fuselage. I wonder if the most "simple" would be to rebuild everything.
I'll do this one, and others that will be easier and faster.
I'll start without stress :)
A bientôt

hmm yes i'd say you might as well scratch build the fuselage too.
will follow with interest...

Salut Arnaud!
You have chosen an extremely interesting subject. I will follow this thread carefully since I`ve bought 2 Sierra`s vacs lately which makes me very curious. It looks it`s going to be a very accurate build.

Hi, Bo
Yes, I am of the same opinion as you. It is sometimes easier indeed.
Thanks for your interest ;)

Fantastic start, Arnaud! I have this kit in my stash and had reached the same conclusion as you and Bo. The only purpose this kit serves is to encourage a scratch build project. I'll be following with great interest, my friend.
Cheers,

I have the Sierra Phönix C.I Vacuform as well, but in 1/72 scale.
I'll have to keep an eye out for scale when I start it now that I know it may not be accurate.
Thanks!

Hello Xmald,
What are the models that you bought? :)
Arnaud
The kits are AEG G.IV and Hansa Brandenburg W.12 - I consider myself lucky cause I really wanted to have models of the two.
I see some progress already - great job on the wing surgery ;)

Hello Bud,
I agree with you. That's why I started the fuselage with Evergreen.

Outstanding work on what is basically a scratchbuild! I am looking forward to your progress.

It's sad when we spend money to buy a kit then have to scratch build virtually the whole model, but what you have done so far is excellent scratch building, looking forward to seeing more.
